Definition of GOD
Let us see how WIKIPEDIA defines GOD.

The definition of God: God is the English name given to a singular being in theistic and
deistic religions (and other belief systems) who is either the sole deity in monotheism, or a
single deity in polytheism. God is most often conceived of as the supernatural creator and
overseer of the universe. Theologians have ascribed a variety of attributes to the many
different conceptions of God. The most common among these include omniscience (infinite
knowledge), omnipotence (unlimited power), omnipresence (present everywhere),
omnibenevolence (perfect goodness), divine simplicity, and eternal and necessary existence.

Since the concept of God cannot be explained by words in one go, I shall deal with a single
attribute at a time. I shall take OMNIPRESENCE today. (Can we explain the concept of
GOD at all?)

Muslims often use a small sentence in their daily lives i.e. ALLAH-U-AKBAR

Who is ALLAH?
"Allah" comes from the Arabic word "elah" - (Arabic) means 'a god' or something that is
worshipped.

"He is God; there is no god but He, He is the Knower of the unseen and the visible; He is the
All-Merciful, the All-Compassionate. He is God, there is no God but He. He is the King, the
All-Holy, the All-Peace, the Guardian of Faith, the All-Preserver, the All-Mighty, the All-
Compeller, the All-Sublime. Glory be to God, above that they associate! He is God the
Creator, the Maker, the Shaper. To Him belong the Names Most Beautiful. All that is in the
heavens and the earth magnifies Him; He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise." (59:22-24)

"There is no god but He, the Living, the Everlasting. Slumber seizes Him not, neither sleep;
to Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. Who is there that shall intercede with
Him save by His leave? He knows what lies before them and what is after them, and they
comprehend not anything of His knowledge save such as He wills. His throne comprises the
heavens and earth; the preserving of them oppresses Him not; He is the All-High, the All-
Glorious." (2:255)

"People of the Book, go not beyond the bounds in your religion, and say not as to God but the
truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only the Messenger of God, and His Word that
He committed to Mary, and a Spirit from Him. So believe in God and His Messengers, and
say not, 'Three.' Refrain; better is it for you. God is only one God. Glory be to Him - (He is)
above having a son." (4:171)

“There is nothing like Him (He is beyond all comparison), and He is the All-Hearing, the All-
Seeing”. (42:11)

“Say, ‘Is there anyone of your (associated) partners (with God) who starts the cycle of
creation and then continues it?’ Say, ‘It is Allâh who starts the cycle of creation and then
continues it. Wither then are you being deviated away (from this fact)?’ Ask, ‘Is there any of
your (associated) partners (with God) who lead to the truth (through revelation)?’ Say, ‘It is
Allâh alone Who leads to the truth. Is then He who leads to the truth more worthy to be
followed or he (assumed to be god or a son of god) that cannot find the way (himself) unless
he be guided? What, then, is the matter with you? How do you judge?” (10:34)

What is the meaning of the word Akbar?

Akbar means GREAT in Arabic.

Who should be the greatest? Of course, the omnipresent!

Is ALLAH OMNIPRESENT?
Let us see what the muslims say about the omnipresence of ALLAH:

http://www.as-salaf.com/article.php?aid=81&lang=en

All Praise is due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and
upon his family and Companions;

If one looks at the statements of the Righteous Salaf and studies them carefully, he would see
that their statements regarding Allah’s elevation point to the elevation of the Essence, and not
that of status, in addition to their belief in Allah’s high status.

What follows is an explanation of how that is:

1. Through the context, where their speech wasn’t about status, for example:- The Sahabi
Abdullah Ibn Masud –May Allah be pleased with him- said: «Between the lowest heaven and
the one after it is the distance of five hundred years, and between every two heavens is the
distance of five hundred years, and between the seventh heaven and the Kursi is the distance
of five hundred years, and between the Kursi and the water is the distance of five hundred
years, and the Throne (Arsh) is above the water, and Allah the Almighty is above the
Throne (fawqa Al-Arsh). And nothing is hidden from Allah of your deeds.» And in another
narration «He knows what you are upon». (1) Its grading is: hasan.

- Ahmad Ibn Hanbal (d. 241 H.) : Abu Yusuf bin Musa Al-Qattan said: "It was said to Abu
Abdullah Ahmad ibn Hanbal: ‘Allah –Azza wa Jal- is above the seventh Heaven on His
Throne separate from His creation, and His Ability and Knowledge is everywhere?’
He replied: «Yes, (He is) over the Throne, and no place is free from His Knowledge.»” (2)
Sahih

- Khushaish bin Asram (d. 253 H.) said in “Al-Istiqamah”: «If He (Allah) was on earth like
He is above the Heavens, nothing would come down to earth from the Heavens, but it would
ascend from the earth to the Heavens like it descends from the Heavens to the earth, and there
have come reports from the Prophet – Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam- that Allah is above the
heavens and not the earth.» (3)

………………………………….

- Ibn Abi Zayd Al-Qairawani Al-Maliki (d.386 H.) in “al-Jame` “: “What the Ummah has
agreed upon from the matters of religion, and from the Sunnah which its opposition is bidah
and misguidance, is that Allah -Tabaraka Ismuh- …” He then mentions a number of beliefs,
one of them being:

“And that He is above His Heavens on His Throne and not His earth, and that He is
everywhere by His Knowledge.” Then he says at the end:

“And all that we have mentioned previously is the belief of Ahl As-Sunnah and the Imams of
the people in fiqh, and Hadeeth, and all of it is the belief of (Imam) Malik, from him it has
been reported, and it is known from his madhhab.” (15)

…………….

7. Many of their statements included: «And His Knowledge is everywhere.» or "His

Knowledge encompasse everything» and such. If we interpreted their statement to mean
Allah's dominion, , power, sovereignty, control, and such; then it would be like this: «Allah is
above the Throne, or in the Heavens with His sovereignty, dominion, and control; and His
knowledge is everywhere.», which would result in Allah's sovereignty, power, dominion, and
control being restricted to the Throne and the Heavens, and only His knowledge is
everywhere; and as Imam Abu Isa At-Tirmidhi (d. 279 H.) said in his "Sunnan": «Allah’s
Knowledge, Ability, and sovereignty is everywhere, and He is on the Throne as He
described Himself in». Thus, such interpretation of their statement is false.

……………………..

Thus, it is concluded by muslims themselves that, “Allah’s Knowledge, Ability, and

sovereignty is everywhere, and He is on the Throne as He described Himself in.” In other
words ALLAH is on/above the throne and not omnipresent.

What if a muslim chooses to believe that ALLAH is omnipresent? The muslims say that he
will become a kafir. Observe:

http://as-salaf.com/article.php?aid=67&lang=en

3. Abu Hanifah An-Nu`man (d. 150 H.) :

At-Tahawi said in “Al-Aqeedah At-Tahawiyah”, in which he wrote the beliefs of Imam Abu
Hanifah and his two companions: Abu Yusuf and Muhammad bin Al-Hasan :
“And the Throne and Kursi.are true, and He is independent from the Throne and what is
beneath it, He encompasses everything (? Is above it.”

His saying: “And Is Above it” meaning: “He is above everything” is affirmation of the
elevation of Allah Azza wa Jal above all of creation, including the Throne.

And his saying in another section of the book: “Nor is He contained by the six directions as
all created things are.” Is a negation of the creations’ encompassing of Allah –Azza wa Jal- ,
for the “He is not contained by the six directions” that is creation, He is above the six
directions and all creation. This is a reply to the Hulooliyah and Jahmiyyah who said that
Allah is in His creation, and that He is everywhere - Exalted is Allah above that-.

It was also narrated in al Fiqh Al-Akbar that Imam Abu Hanifah said: “Whoever says: ‘I do
not know if Allah is above the heaven or on earth’, then he has disbelieved, Allah Ta`ala said:
{The Most Gracious over the Throne Istawa (Rose)}; If he then says: ‘I do say this ayah but I
don’t know if the Throne is above the heaven or on earth’ then he has disbelieved too.” (3)

And that is because in both statements he is doubting Allah’s elevation, him not knowing if
Allah is above His creation or not. And in it is also the belief in the possibility of Allah being
inside His creation –Exalted is Allah above that- . So by that he is denying the Islamic texts,
and believing in the permissibility of Allah residing in His creation, and both (4) are
kufr (disbelief).

Let us compare ALLAH WITH AUM

Who is AUM?

AUM is the Great God Who is OMNIPRESENT (like ether/space)." YAJUR VEDA 40: 17.

"He alone, whose name is AUM, Who is Immortal, is worthy of our adoration and none
other." CHHANDOGYA UPANISHAD 1:1:1

"All the Vedas and the Shastraas declare AUM as the primary and natural name of God. All
others are His secondary names." MANDUKYA UPANISHAD, 1

"He Whom all the Vedas declare worthy of homage, Whom all devotion and righteous
actions lead to, and for Whose realization, the life of Brahmacharya(chastity) is led, is
called AUM. KATH UPANISHAD 2:15.

"He , Who is the Teacher of all, subtler than the subtle, Resplendent, Who can be known
through understanding begotten of Samadhi, i.e., 'superior condition' of the soul, when the
mind is perfectly concentrated by means of psychical practices, is the Great Being." "Being
All-glorious, some call Him Agni. Being the Embodiment of all true knowledge, other call
Him Manu. Other call Him Indra, being All-powerful and Protector of all. Others Pranaa, as
the source of all-life. Others, again, call Him Brahma, the Greatest of all beings." MANU 12:
122, 123.
"By One Supreme Ruler is this universe pervaded, every world in the whole circle of nature,
He is the true God. Know Him, O man and covet not unjustly the wealth of any creature
existing. Renounce all that is unjust and enjoy pure delight - true spiritual happiness - by the
practice of justice and righteousness which is another name for true religion.” YAJUR VEDA
40:1

Therefore, AUM is ONE and OMNIPRESENT and thus by default

AKBAR. Allah is smaller than AUM. In other words “AUM (NOT
ALLAH) IS AKBAR”.
