LESSON PLAN

Date: August 23rd, 2010 Level: 6th Time: 90’

Topic: “ e-friend”

Outcomes: The students will read and comprehend an e-mail concerning to some personality
characteristics. They will recognize and contrast more complex adjectives. Students
will learn how to compare adjectives in English

Introduction 10’ The students will greet the teacher and answer the
question: What’s the weather like today?.
The students play “Simon says”.

Core of the class 20‘ The students are introduced to the lesson by showing them
Pre-stage flash cards with adjectives they have learned before, and
some new ones. The students will be asked questions
about e-friends and the advantages and disadvantages of
the internet. They will be introduced to a text by using the
prediction technique. The students will read the text in
couples, and underline or highlight the words they don’t
know.

While-stage 30’ The students will read the text again with the teacher and
the questions will be clarified concerning to vocabulary,
structures, and content. The students will answer some
questions about the reading, orally. The students will
demonstrate their reading comprehension through
matching and true or false exercises.
The teacher will show students some flash cards referring
to the new adjectives they have learned in their
comparative and superlative form and they will be asked to
fill in a box with the missed adjectives. Students will be
given handouts with the grammatical rules of the
adjectives and will explain it. Students will answer
questions about the adjectives, orally. Students will work
in couples and will compare the physical characteristic of a
character in a picture of a group of classmates following a
matrix.

Post-stage 20’ Students will compare themselves to their classmate. They


will write down the names of their classmates they will be
compared to. The students will answer questions orally
about the exercises, trying to use the new words they will
learn.

Closing 10’ Students will share their reflections about the previous
exercise. They will be given a summary of the class and
will be asked about the thing they learn.
The teacher will give students as homework to describe
one of their best friends using a matrix.

Core of the class 25‘ The students will be introduced to the subject by watching
Pre-stage pictures of two pair of best friends, and identify their
differences orally. The students will listen a conversation
about a girl and a boy who describe their best friends.
They will recognize the main theme of the listening. They
will listen the recording again, this time they will read in a
power point presentation of the dialogue between the three
people. They will answer two more exercises in groups.

While-stage 20’ Students will classify some adjectives in their comparative


form into a box. They will correct the exercise on the
board by volunteering. Students will answer some written
questions using comparative adjectives. They will check
the answer with the class.

Post-stage 20’ Students will compare themselves to their classmates


following a matrix. They will write down the names of
their classmates they will be compared to. The students
will answer questions orally about the exercises, trying to
use the new words they will learn.

Closing 15’ Students will share their reflections about the previous

questions that are answered to demonstrate comprehension
and will listen the dialogue again. They will check their
answer by listening the dialogue again. Students will make
sure of their answer before getting the second part of the
test.

While-stage 25’ Students will answer the second part of the test. They will
read a small piece of text similar to the ones that they’ve
seen previously and answer some comprehension questions
which include true or false, and short answers.

Post-stage 25’ Students will answer the last part of the test. They will
work on a grammar exercise similar to the ones they have
worked with in class. They will check the text again to
make sure they’ve answered all the questions.

Closing 10’ Students will be given feedback regarding the test,


answering questions about it and reflecting about their
perceptions.
Students will be given an introduction about the next unit
starting the next class.
The teacher will give students as homework to read page
40 and 41 of their textbook.

descriptions, especially the words that have to do with
physical descriptions. They will describe people by using
some flashcards. They will identify colors and shapes of
their hair and eyes, and their weight. Students will
compare their classmates by applying their knowledge
about physical appearance and their personality trait.

While-stage 20’ Students will be given the directions to answer a worksheet


of exercises similar to the ones they have recalled
previously. They will describe the physical appearance of
a picture, which includes hair and eyes, and then they will
do it with themselves. Students will compare two people
from a picture, which includes height, weight, and age.
They will match opposite words related to the same topic.

20’ Students will read a small text and will answer reading
Post-stage comprehension questions, in which the will identify the
characters of the reading and will answer true or false
statements. Students will draw two people according to
the characteristics they will be given.

everybody’s participation.
