FIT Back Training at SVAI


FITback Event Training and Implementation in MT India (Kolkata) was
conducted between 07th - 11th of June 2010 by Michael Seidler & Karl
Stelzer from SVAI Linz. The training in FITback process for Kolkata was
conducted for the nominated Key users from CR, SM & IR functional
segments who will assist the FITback nominated implementation
coordinators of the functional segments to train the rest of the
members.
To start with, all the members of the functional segments shall use the
Test FITback system which is offline version of the FITback system till
end June, 2010 to get conversant with the Event reporting in the
FITback system. During this period the nominated Key users and the
respective coordinators shall train the other members of the functional
segment in posting the events in FITback system. Beginning July, 2010
SVAI MT Kolkata shall be in a position to enter the events in the real
FITback system online.
SVAI MT Kolkata will be responsible only for the event entries into the
FITback system online along with the analysis of the events; the measures
to be taken shall be under the responsibility of SVAI Linz till the Center of
Competence is acquired by SVAI Kolkata to analyze the events and
suggest measures in the FITback system. Further more nominated
members of each segment namely, Design Engineering, Order
Management and Procurement were trained for event entries into 4
FITback system.

A training program was conducted on PM@SIEMENS at Kolkata in May, 2010 on behalf of Order Management Department of Siemens
VAI Metals Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Twenty seven employees of Order Management Department had participated in the aforesaid
training program including Mr. Frank Vulliez - I IS MT France. Joerg Macherey (MT Project management Coach, MT OM PM) and Rudolf
Wimmer (Commercial Project Management, MT OM PM BA) were in charge of the training. The program was for four days (25-May-
2010 to 28-May-2010), between 09:00 to 17:00 each day. In the initial three days, - different topics of Project management like
General Basics, different aspects of Technical & Commercial Project Management and Execution, Time Scheduling, Quality Control etc.

IS Safety Training Workshop at Kharghar


I IS Safety training was conducted for E&C engineers at Kharghar on June 21 & 22 , 2010. I IS Safety has taken an initiative to cover safety
trainings for E&C Engineers, who visit the site during testing & commissioning phase. Therefore safety aspects during testing & commissioning
phase play a very important role with our E&C Engineers. Accordingly relevant topics were decided and expert faculties were arranged to
impart safety trainings. The training program was inaugurated by Mr. Raj Sinha and Mr. Girish Gupta.

Following topics were covered during this 2 day training session:

1. Basic principles of accident prevention

2. Electrical safety

3. LOTO & Work permit system

4. First aid training

5. Effective usage of PPE

6. Safety aspects during height work

7. Job Safety Analysis

8. Fire protection & prevention

Practical demonstrations were given on Fire prevention, use of fire extinguishers & first aid administration. All the participants were
involved in mock exercises to help them understand for better implementation.

Geoff Wingrove joined Siemens Limited as the Head of Metals Technology in Industry Solutions Division, India. He will be based in
Kolkata and will report to Robert Wagner. Prior to this Geoff Wingrove was with Siemens UK.
With effect from 1st June 2010, Anil Chopra, takes as the Chief Financial Officer of Siemens VAI Metals Technologies Pvt. Ltd in India.
He will be based at Kolkata and will report to Mukesh Vig. Prior to joining this division, Anil Chopra was Head of Compliance in India

EA Water Expo Chennai (7-9 January, 2010)
I IS Water Technologies participated in EA Water Expo 2010 (Jan 7-9
2010) at Chennai. It was a joint participation by Industry Sector IS WT,
Energy Sector Oil & Gas-Process Compression and Industry Sector IA.
IS WT took the lead in this exhibition. The portfolios highlighted in
the exhibition were Industrial Water, Waste Water, Sewage Water,
Drinking Water, Disinfection, Automation & Energy, Services, and Sky
Hydrant Single Stage Centrifugal Turbo Compressors for Aeration
(Energy). Stephen Willis from Siemens Ion Pure, UK presented a paper
in the International Conference on "Continuous Electro-Deionization
Technology. Panel Display, Audio-Visuals, Presentations, Brochure
distribution were used

Indian Power Stations 2010(13-15 February, 2010)


I IS Water Technologies participated in the "Indian Power Stations-2010" at Noida in 13-15 February. It was a Power O&M conference and
exhibition where all power utilities and manufacturers related to power participated in the conference and where NTPC Ltd was the major
organizers. This event showcased the best and modern technologies and practices adopted in the operation and maintenance of power plants
world wide. In this event the major power generators in India such as SEBs, DVC, CESC, TATA Power, Budge Budge, GMR, APGENCO etc., and
across the world from countries including USA, UK, China, Japan, Korea, Australia, South Africa, Canada etc participated. Equipment
manufacturers and service providers such as GEC, ABB, Alstom, BHEL, Storm technologies, Hitatchi, Toshiba, Land Instruments, EPRI, and Innogy
etc participated in a big way to demonstrate the advance technology and latest systems being used for O&M of Power plants. Siemens WT
highlighted the entire portfolio for Power sector in this event through paper presentations, brochures, panel display and others. R Rajkumar from
I IS WT presented a paper on "Chemical free protection of de-ionized water through continuous electro deionization module" in the event.

I IS Water Technologies participated in the Power Gen India Exhibition at Mumbai in April 21-23, 2010. This exhibition was a joint
participation from Siemens Energy Sector, I IS WT and SBT in which the energy sector took the lead in the exhibition. WT highlighted
its portfolio related to power sector through panel displays, visuals, brochures, CD and others.

Yes, despite India not qualifying for the World Cup, the ambitions
of local Siemens VAI would be hopefuls hasn't been dampened.
These enthusiasts have taken to the field in the run up to the
World Cup, trying to replicate the moves and skills of the best in
