Teachers have an understandable desire to instill knowledge in each student. With all the
influences pushing the youth to strive hard in order to achieve an outstanding grade, many
became opposing to this kind of system. As I scrolled through my Facebook, I saw this certain
video entitled “Kung Pwede Lang” (KPL) — a viral short film uploaded by VinCentiments.
Without hesitation, i watched the vid and scrolled down to see the comments. The majority of the
comments are from students and teachers. Some were disappointed and some weren’t. The
opinions of each depend on how they interpret the message of the video.

The video is mainly about the life of a student and how she rants about it. There are
specific lines from the video that most students agree to. “Pag-uwi ko, mag-aalaga pa ako ng
mga kapatid ko, magsasaing ako, maghahain ng hapunan, maghuhugas ako ng plato, maglilinis
ng bahay. Saka palang ako pwede gumawa ng mga assignment, projects at PT! Ano ‘to?
Pagsasabay-sabayin ko? Sabay-sabay lahat?”which really is true. In fact, students get stressed
and anxious. There are deadlines to be met, paperwork to be passed, projects and homework to
be made. Cramming is always present. But there’s a difference between students who
procrastinate and students who are good at time-management. Through better approach,
cramming can be avoided and the inner self will be at ease.

Another line is “Hindi ako machine!” Students can get exhausted too, especially when
put into pressure. They aren’t machineries to produce a lot of work in one sitting. They need time
to think and rest in order to create a better output. “Kung makapag-PT ka akala mo nagdo-doktor
na kami. Ano ba’ng meaning ng PT sa’yo ma’am? Penitensya?” Funny as it may seem but it’s
also undeniably factual. Some tasks are difficult to do that some students can’t stand it. “Kung
makapag-quiz ka ma’am, no erasures! Bawal magkamali? Pagtitiisan ko habang buhay yung
nagkamali ako kahit alam ko na yung tama? Bawal ko ayusin?”Indeed, there are teachers who
put strict rules like these when it comes to tests. I can’t really blame them though. Besides the
fact that the paper will look neat, it’s also a sign that the student didn’t cheat. The student also
has a point. In life, we make mistakes. It shouldn’t be illegal to make mistakes because it’s a
stepping stone to self-improvement. “Sabihin mo lang dahil ayokong bumagsak!” Tests are like
trains. Students go aboard and when they reached the end or destination, they forget all about it.
It’s all about passing instead of learning these days.

Outside influences will remain no matter how hard teachers try to filter them out.
Students may be traumatized due to a personal situation or experience and sometimes it really
affects their education. I was really astonished because all these rants aren’t really vocally
expressed. The student in the video mumbled the statement “Kung pwede lang.” and admitted
that she didn’t finish the task assigned to her. This proves that all these rants aren’t really vocally
expressed but just a mere interpretation of what the student feels. This video also conveys that
despite all shortcomings in school, respect to the teacher is the factor that didn’t become altered.

their desires to reach their potential.” —John Maxwell
