To,
Mahad CETP.
As per discussions held at your site with Dr. Bhosale (Chairman) and Mr. Borole
(Plant manager – CETP), and scope of treatability studies mailed by Mr. Borole, we
are pleased to submit our offer for feasibility studies as under:
Scope of Work :

PRIMARY TREATMENT:
Primary treatment will be done on the representative 24 hrs composite effluent
sample collected from the following location:
1. All the composite effluent collected.
2. Inlet of CETP such that the effluent is without Sudarshan, Laxmi Organics,
Ashok Alco Chem industries wastewater.
3. Effluent from Sudarshan, Laxmi Organics, Ashok Alco Chem mixed in
proportion.
Primary treatment will include addition of coagulant and flocculant
followed by sedimentation. The effectiveness of treatment will be decided based
on the analysis result of TSS, COD and BOD of the supernatant effluent.
The flocculant addition include:
1. Lime to pH 8.5 followed by Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) to pH 7.5 +
Polyelectrolyte.
2. PAC to pH 5.5 followed by lime to pH 7.5 + PE.
3. Lime to pH 8.5 followed by Ferrous Sulphate (FeSO4) to pH 7.5 +
Polyelectrolyte.
4. FeSO4 to pH 5.5 followed by lime to pH 7.5 + PE
The amount of chemicals required and volume of
chemical sludge generated will be recorded for each sets.

The best treated sample will be used for Secondary
treatment.
The treatment will be studied in 3 sets for each chemical
addition.
SECONDARY TREATMENT
Secondary ‘activated sludge’ treatment process will be done on laboratory scale
model using the best treated effluent from Primary process as per designed
parameters to obtain maximum reduction in BOD/COD.
Designed parameters for activated sludge process are as follows: (as per your
requirement)
1. MLSS 4000mg/L
2. DO: ~1 mg/L
3. BOD:N:P ratio = 100:5:1
The activated sludge will be developed and acclimatized with the
effluent to obtain the above desired parameter value.
The sample will be collected after every 24 hrs, 48 hrs & 72 hrs
after proper acclimatization of biological sludge and the collected sample will be
analysed for COD & BOD.
The excess sludge will be drained daily to maintain the desired
MLSS and MLVSS value.
The biological treatment will be done in 3 sets for each effluent
collected.
TERTIARY TREATMENT:
The supernatant from biological treatment after 72 hrs will be subjected to
tertiary treatment.
Tertiary treatment will include addition of coagulant and flocculant followed by
sedimentation. The effectiveness of treatment will be decided based on the
analysis result of TSS, COD and BOD of the supernatant.
The flocculant addition include:
1. Lime to pH 7.5 followed by Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) to pH 5.5 +
The amount of chemicals required and volume of chemical sludge
generated will be recorded for each sets.

The best treated sample will be treated with sodium hypochlorite
solution such that a residual chlorine concentration of 0.5 mg/L is maintained
after a contact period of 30 min.
Analyse the clarified effluent for COD, BOD and TSS
The amount of Hypochlorite required and sludge generated will be
recorded.
The treatment will be studied in 3 sets for each chemicals addition.
Duration for Phase II:
1. Analysis – 2 days.
2. Primary Treatment – 4 days
3. Secondary treatment – 16 days
4. Tertiary treatment – 6 days.

along with all back-up chemical analysis at our NABL approved laboratory at
Nashik.
As per our discussion on 27th Aug, 2009, we have to complete the treatability
studies within 2 – 21/2 months and hence we will require setting extra pilot
plants at a time which will increase our capital investment.
