2 020 METROBANK-MTAP-DEPED MATH CHALLENGE

To All Schools Division Superintendents

1. This is to announce that the conduct of 2020 Regional Metrobank Math

Challenge will be on March 27, 2020, at Aquino Hall, DepEd Region III DMGC,
Maimpis, City of San Fernando, Pampanga while the proposed schedules for the
Division and National Finals will be on March 5-6, 2020 and April 24-25, 2020,
respectively, per letter of the MTAP President slated February 19, 2020.

2. The activity aims to:

a.) provide avenue for Math enthusiasts to prove their talents in Math ; and
b.) strengthen Mathematics among our pupils/ students.

3. The participants to the regional activity are 1 CLMD Chief, 1 Regional Math
Supervisor, 1 Teaching Aid Specialist (TAS), l EPS QAD, 1 EPS FTAD, 20 Division
Math EPS's, 2 MTAP representatives, and 20 members of working cornmittees.
4. Transportation expenses shall be charged to the School/Division/Regional
MOOE or local funds subject to accounting rules and regulations.

5. Attached is the letter of the MTAP President, fer reference.

In compliance to the Deped Memorandum No. 15, s. 2020 which aims to avoid temporarily the
conduct of events that gathers learners and teachers, the National Steering Committee of the
Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge (MMC) has decided to postpone the conduct of its Division
Finals on February 6-7, 2020. Due to the postponement, schedules of the MMC Regional and
National Finals will also be affected.

The MMC Secretariat has sent a formal request letter for the proposed new schedule of the
competition. For your reference, I have attached the receiving copy of the request. As of writing, it
is being processed by the DepEd Central Office - Bureau of Curriculum Development.

In this regard, we would like to present the proposed new schedule of the competition, as

Good day!

We are set to conduct the Elimination Rounds of the 2020 Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge on January
16 and 17, 2020. An estimate of 460,000+ are expected to take the exams in more than 2000 testing centers
nationwide. All top 1 placers in Grades 6 and 10 only during the Elimination on each division shall automatically
qualify to the Regional Finals. No hurdle rate is requ~

As of writing, the MMC Secretariat is preparing for the Regional Finals scheduled on March 06, 2020. Securing the
venues for the Regional Finals will allow the Secretariat to finalize the logistical preparations and invite MTAP
representatives who will assist the Region in the conduct of the competition.

With this, we would like an update if the Region thru the Regional Math Supervisor have already identified a venue
for the Regional Finals.

We would like to thank you for your support to the 2019 Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge
(MMC). We are glad that your Region is actively participating in the competition every year and we believe
this is because of your endorsement and active support to the program.

Once again, the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. in partnership with the Mathematics Teachers
Association of t he Philippines (MTAP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) is set to hold the 2020 MMC
Regional Finals on March 06, 2020. One of our innovations this year is the removal of the hurdle rate
requirement for the Regional Finals. Hence, all Top 1 placers in the Grades 6 and 10 Individual and Team
Orals category will automatically qualify and compete in the Regional Finals.
 In connection with this, per MGA signed by Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, we would like to
request your assistance once again on. the following:

• Ensure maximum participation of the DepEd Divisions in the region through issuance of a regional
memorandum about the competition. We have already requested the issuance of the DepEd Memo for
the 2020 MMC and per update, it is still for release. We will send you an electronic copy once issued.
• Provide a venue for the competition. Please send through email the complete address of the venue
on or before December 10. 2019 at mmcmathchalleng~@gmail.com.
• Field qualified officials to serve as judges, proctors, quizmaster and coordinators.
• Provide decent accommodation to one (1) MTAP representative coming from Metro Manila.

Through our partnership and shared efforts, we believe that we will surely create an impact towards
increasing the level of our students' achievement in Mathematics. For queries, please contact our Program
