1. This assignment aims you to learn the various concepts of retail management by
carrying out a field study and refer books, academic journals. Collection of
information, meeting the right people, preparing a report and improving your
analytical skills would be the key learning outcomes.
2. Annexure 1 consists of five topics related to the subject
3. It is an individual assignment.
4. I will allocate a topic to each group.
5. You are expected to meet the concerned personnel of the organization and refer to
resources available in the library/internet.

GUIDELINES
1. Each group has to carry out primary research. This is MANDATORY.
2. Attach the visiting card of the person you have met.
3. Word limit: 2000 words (excluding annexure).
4. The report and the presentation must include the following: ONE report per
group
1. Objectives of the study
2. Analysis of survey
3. Findings
4. Recommendations
5. Conclusions
5. Weight age: 10 marks
6. Plagiarism is a serious offence. PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANY
MATERIAL FROM THE WEBSITES IN YOUR REPORT. ANY
VIOLATION WILL ATTRACT ZERO MARKS IN THE ASSIGNMENT.

7. WE EXPECT YOU TO WRITE THE ASSIGNMENT IN YOUR OWN
LANGUAGE AND NOT BORROWED FROM THE WEBSITES.

There will be two groups working on each topic.

Topic 1

1. Take any one retail organization of your choice?


2. Analyze the various factors which are taken into account while selection of target
markets?
3. Provide recommendations?

Topic 2

1. Take any one retail outlet of your choice?


2. Analyze the various kinds of promotional strategies used by the retail outlet?
3. Provide recommendations

Topic 3

1. Vishal Retail is not performing well.


2. Recommend your strategy to turnaround the organization.
3. Identify the areas where you will focus on.
4. Justify your reasons for the same.

Topic 4
1. Big Bazaar has gone for electronic retailing.
2. Would you recommend the same?
3. As Big Bazaar also has physical stores, recommend a strategy as to how should Big
Bazaar go for electronic retailing. (products, merchandising)

Topic 5
1. Study the loyalty program of any one retailer.
2. Analyze the objectives and considerations in doing the same.
3. Provide recommendations.
