Evan Faircloth is a vibrant, 16 year old student at Midway High School. On September 6, 2019, he was diagnosed with
an extremely rare cancer known as biphasic mesothelioma. It is not in his lungs, which makes this remarkably rare—
with one other reported case in his age group (according to UNC-Chapel Hill and John Hopkins University). He has en-
dured one major surgery at UNC-CH and is facing a second surgery at Indiana University in Indianapolis in March 2020.
He has a physician and surgical care team that spans several states due to the uniqueness of his disease.
Despite the battle that lies before Evan and his family, they continue to stand firm in their faith and believe in God’s
goodness and provision. God has provided an army for Evan through prayer, support, words of encouragement, and a
community that extends across multiple states. His story continues to reach hundreds via social media and we believe
it will continue to inspire others throughout our community and the medical profession.
