Abstract

The needs of the domestic community for meat will continue to increase along with
the increase in population, increase in economic level, awareness of the community about
nutrition, and the existence of foreign communities. Feed is the biggest factor that affects
livestock productivity. The high price of feed is due to the fact that some of the feed
ingredients are still imported, the price of which is definitely expensive and some are still
competing with human needs. One way to provide feed ingredients for the preparation of a
balanced nutritious ration that can increase livestock productivity, reduce the cost of food
expenditure, and is easily obtained is pulp. The purpose of this Final Project writing is to find
out how the effect of tofu dregs on the body weight of the goat is cut. The method used 10
male goats each of four ettawa peranakan (PE) goats and six bean / local goats. Based on the
provision of tofu dregs in peanut and ettawa peranakan (PE) goats, this has a positive
influence on increasing body weight. Aside from being able to increase goat body weight, it
also increases the growth of chest circumference and body length.

Introduction
Goats are one type of livestock that has a fairly good development prospect in
supplying these needs (Mahmilia and Tarigan, 2004). Goat farming in Indonesia is one of the
livestock used by the people and there are still a few who use goats for milk production. So
far the need for goat meat still relies on local goats (Adriani, 2009).
The Kacang Goat is a local goat nation that needs to be preserved and developed by
its population. This is because from year to year the existence of bean goats is increasingly
marginalized by the presence of other goat nations such as Etawa and Jawarandu goat breeds.
Bean goats are native Indonesian goats that have a body weight smaller than other goats. The
characteristics of goat nuts are small ears and stand upright, have horns, straight face profile,
small and erect tail, small udder with good conformation and relatively large nipples, dark
body color and brown with short and coarse female goat hair whereas in the male is longer
than the female. The bean goat is a fast-breed goat, from the age of 15-18 months it can
produce offspring (Suyasa, et al., 2016).
Etawa breed goat (PE) is the result of a cross between Etawa goats and Kacang goats.
Batubara et al. (2016) informed that the dominant characteristics of the PE goat family are
long ears and drooping up to 18-30 cm, the color of the feathers varies from light brown to
black, on the male fur on the top of the neck, shoulders thicker and rather long while the
females have only long feathers in the thighs, body weight of adult males 40 kg and females
35 kg and shoulder height 76-100 cm (SNI 7325.2008).
Body weight plays an important role in a good maintenance pattern, because knowing
the goat's body weight will facilitate the determination of the amount of feeding and the
number of doses of the drug. Goat body weight can be known in two ways, namely by
weighing and with estimation. Both of these techniques have their advantages and limitations.
The weighing method is the most accurate method but has many obstacles, including the
limitations of tools and labor and can cause stress on goats. The second method of measuring
live weight of goats is estimation through linear regression analysis between measures of
vital livestock statistics such as chest circumference, body length, chest width, chest with
body weight.
Feed when viewed in terms of nutrition, is an element that really determines the
growth, reproduction, and health of livestock. Provision of good feed is in accordance with
the nutritional needs of goats used in the body's metabolic processes. Ruminant feed consists
of forage feed, concentrates, vitamins and minerals as supplements. Food substances most
needed by goats and sheep are protein and energy (Ketut and Budiarsana, 2010).
Tofu waste is the product of the process of making tofu originating from soybeans,
can be used as ruminant feed ingredients. Tofu water content reaches 85.31% (Suprapti,
2005). As an additional feed ingredient, tofu can function to supplement the protein from
forage. The utilization of tofu pulp is very effective especially in ruminants, weight gain will
be faster.

Materials and Methods

The implementation of this research was carried out in the farm of Mr Sholikin in
Bapang Hamlet, Sumbermulyo Village, Jogoroto Subdistrict, Jombang Regency, East Java
for one month, starting on 11 February 2019 until 11 March 2019. On April 8, 2019 a
Proximate Analysis Examination of tofu pulp samples belonging to the farm was conducted.
Mr. Sholikin at the Veterinary Testing Unit and Feed Analysis of the Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, Airlangga University.
Using ten male goats each four ettawa peranakan goats (PE) and six bean / local
goats.

Research variables and measurement

The variables in this study can be identified as exogenous and endogenous variables.
Where the provision of tofu dregs as free or exogenous variables and body weight of cut
goats as bound or endogenous variables.

The author uses the Lambourne formula to determine the body weight of a goat cut.
The following is the Lambourne formula:

   LD = Chest circumference (cm)
W = Body Weight (kg) (Malewa, 2009).

It is known from the data above that the chest circumference and body length of the
goat shows that every week there is an increase of 1-4 cm.
Calculation of goat body weight is done once a week by including the body length
and circumference of the goat's chest, so that body weight can be known. The following is a
graph of the results of body weight per week.

As with the chest circumference and the length of the goat's body experiencing an
increase in growth, the body weight also automatically increased.
The results of the study can be seen from table 2 and figure 1 above, that the body
weight and body length and circumference of the goat's chest every week until the end of the
study took place to increase. To find out the average body weight of goats every day using
the formula:
Daily weight gain = BB end - BB early

Daily body weight gain can be seen in Figure 2 above, from all results of the average
during the study which had the highest average of the third goat. And from all the studies it is
known that every week there is an increase, as well as the increase in body weight of goats
per day up 0.2 to 0.3 per day.

Summary
Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the administration of tofu
dregs in peanut goats and PE (Etawa breeds) has a positive influence on increasing body
weight. Besides being able to increase goat body weight automatically, it also increases the
growth of chest circumference and body length. Daily body weight speeds can reach 0.2 to
0.3 kg per day. And the increase in chest circumference and body length reaches 1-4 cm per
week.
The industrial waste of tofu manufacturing plant is good for ruminants because it
contains protein, carbohydrates, fats, and mineral substances which are very suitable for
animal feed mixtures. Good pulp for animal feed, one of which is fattening, the result of
increased body weight due to carbohydrates and complete nutritional content. Besides that,
tofu pulp is easy to find. So from that tofu pulp is very good as an alternative for ruminant
feed.
