Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

The technology tool I used for this lesson was Kahoot which provided the students with means of action and
expression. This activity tool enhances student learning because it keeps them engaged. Students will use
their computer, tablet, phone or other wireless device to complete this activity. Kahoot’s answer choices are
colored and have different shapes on each which can help students who have visual impairments.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.

Prior to the student response section, the students will practice the concept. They will do this by solving the
subtraction/addition problems that I have written on the board. They can use manipulatives to practice but
before we go into our SRT activity they will have to put them away to practice using mental strategies. This
will enhance their knowledge and fluency when it comes to adding and subtracting numbers.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☒ Survey/Poll ☒ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

Students will choose a technology resource to answer their questions on. They will go to kahoot.it and type in
the class code displayed on the board. The students will type in their names and wait until everyone has
signed on. Once everyone has accessed the game, we will begin ad they will choose the answer they think is
correct. If any questions are answered incorrectly, we will discuss them and address possible misconceptions.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☒ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
Kahoot will display the correct answer once time is up or when all students answer the question.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After the SRT students will return their devices to the correct place and go back to their seats for feedback
regarding the Kahoot activity.

How will the data be used?

The data collected from the activity will help guide further instruction. I will discuss the data with the whole
class to make sure all of the students are understanding the content.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

From this activity I hope to learn where students are at regarding this content. This will help me improve
instruction as we proceed. I hope to gain an understanding on where they went wrong and how I can help
them succeed. I hope this helps students recognize their mistakes and/or expand their practice on the
concept. I want this to be an eye opener for students regarding their understanding of the content.

Reflective Practice:

This lesson can impact students by being an eye-opener as to where they are in understanding this content.
This will provide me with feedback that will help me improve instruction and further the time spent on the
content. This is a good way for students to practice for future summative assessments.
