IMPORTANT INFORMATION
----------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------
Poser 8 and Content Installation
----------------------------------------------------------------

Windows: We recommend use the automatic installation tools on the Poser 8 DVD, on Windows,
click the autorun.exe. If you choose to manually install Poser 8, the installer can be found in the
Autoplay>Docs Directory. Poser 8 and Legacy Content installers are found in the
Autoplay>Docs>Content Directory.

Mac: The content installers are found in the Content Folder

----------------------------------------------------------------
Installation of Adobe Flash 9 or higher
----------------------------------------------------------------

Portions of Poser 8 require that Adobe’s Flash Player is installed on your system, version 9 or
later is supported. Poser 8 includes an installer for Flash Player 10. Please verify that Flash
Player is present before starting up Poser 8.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Internet Explorer (Windows only)
----------------------------------------------------------------

Poser’s Content Library utilizes Microsoft Internet Explorer technology. To ensure the optimal
experience and compatibility for the Content Library, the installer will disable “Local Machine
Lockdown” for the Poser application. This will not affect other applications outside of Poser.
Details about “Local Machine Lockdown” can be found at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-
us/library/ms537641(VS.85).aspx.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Data Exchange with COLLADA
----------------------------------------------------------------

We have included basic export of COLLADA files in Poser 8 at the following level
Export only
Geometry only
Simple materials only

In many cases there are limitations of the receiving application that could not be overcome due to
any number of factors. Keep in mind that these third party applications, while developed to the
COLLADA specification, are developed by a number of separate teams attempting to conform to
a set of guidelines that are in flux.

One of the more common applications which may use your exported COLLADA content is
Photoshop CS4. The following COLLADA export settings will produce the best results. Select
Bake Transparency Map (Invert Transparency Map is on by default), then choose A_ONE for the
Baked Transparency to optimize for CS4.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Fundamental Architectural Changes
----------------------------------------------------------------

Due to fundamental architectural changes in Poser 8 that have removed legacy code, and
improved overall performance in many areas across the application, the old Poser 4 renderer and
automatic RSR Library thumbnail conversion to PNG has been discontinued.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Flexible Main Runtime Location
----------------------------------------------------------------

IMPORTANT: During the Poser 8 installation process, we highly recommend that you let the
installer place your content into a shared document folder, which is the default setting. The
reasons for this are outlined below.

Poser 8 includes a new feature designed for users that may not be able to write or save files in
the application's installation directory. Typical situations where this would arise would be:
- Vista with UAC enabled
- In tightly administered lab environments where only the sys admin is allowed to make
installation changes
When first installing Poser 8, the user is presented with four Runtime location options. If installing
in either of the situations mentioned above we recommend selecting "Shared Document
directory" which is optimal for multi-user machines, machines in labs, and machines with
Windows Vista installed and UAC enabled. Additionally, this option facilitates backing up content
only.

The full set of Flexible Main Runtime Location choices during installation are:
- Poser directory - Classic installation option with Runtime located in the main application
directory. Provides maximum backward compatibility; suitable in situations where Flexible Main
Runtime Location benefits are not needed.
- Shared Document directory - Optimal runtime location for multi-user machines, machines in
access restricted environments without sys admin privileges, or machines with Windows Vista
installed and UAC enabled. This option facilitates easily backing up content.
- My Documents directory - For multi-user machines where content will not be accessed by other
machine users.
- Other location - Recommended when installing Runtime on a hard disk other than the primary
disk, and/or when disk space is low on the boot volume.

Regardless of your Main Runtime location, please keep in mind that:

- The key word 'Runtime' needs to be present in the path to any runtime structure, this applies to
the Main Runtime as well as additional External Runtime.
- File names of referenced geometries and textures should be unique to ensure that the right file
is loaded (e.g. loading MyTexture.png from two different locations might cause difficulties).
- It is not recommended to install Poser or Poser content on a Mac OS Extended Case Sensitive
Journaling file system - if you have a case sensitive file system, you have to ensure that all
directories that contain Poser or Poser content the Runtime and subsequent folders are of proper
case. This is likely a non-trivial task.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Content Library Thumbnails and Search
----------------------------------------------------------------

With the release of Poser 8, conversion of RSR thumbnails to PNG has been discontinued.
- Due to fundamental architectural changes in Poser 8 that have removed legacy code, and
improved overall performance in many areas across the application automatic RSR Library
thumbnail conversion to PNG has been discontinued.

The library might fail to display thumbnails for items on the Favorites tab. The thumbnail images
exist on disk, the display issue will be addressed in an updater.

Content Library Search

- When filtering content categories, Poser returns search results that contain individual items
with matching name and type as well as folders with names that match the search term,
regardless of whether or not they contain items of the filter type.
- For best results, please ensure that Windows Search 4 is installed (Windows only). Search 4 is
installed by Vista SP2, the stand alone installer is available for other supported operating systems
at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/940157
- Poser enables indexing for all content library runtimes that are added to Poser (Windows only,
enabled by default on Mac OS X).
- Indexed search does not cover network volumes (Windows only). There is a possibility that a
patch from Microsoft would enable that (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918996), but we haven't
verified that and therefore don't recommend installing it.
----------------------------------------------------------------
OpenGL Preview
----------------------------------------------------------------

Poser 8 offers OpenGL hardware accelerated rendering as well as SreeD software rendering
options for the scene preview display.

In most cases, hardware rendered previews will be faster than software rendered previews.
Additionally, hardware accelerated performance is independent of the preview window size,
whereas software rendering will yield a lower frame rate with larger preview window sizes.

Unfortunately, due to the vast variety of graphics hardware available, hardware acceleration may
not be supported on every system. In that case please use the SreeD software rendering option.
Poser should automatically detect whether or not OpenGL hardware rendering is supported for
your system, and if not, should default to SreeD software rendering.

Poser 8 introduces Hardware shading, allowing you to preview procedural shaders created in the
Material room on high performance graphics hardware without performing a final render. This is
an extremely demanding task for your graphics hardware. If your graphics board does not offer at
least 256 ALU instructions for shaders Poser's hardware check will determine that it is not
supported. Some shader effects are not supported in preview at this point. This includes
raytraced effects such as Ambient Occlusion, Reflection and Refraction as well as Bump and
Displacement Maps. In case a shader contains unsupported nodes or is too complex for your
graphics hardware the resulting preview might be all white.

Poser 8 allows you to configure preview texture size. The maximum size depends on your
graphics hardware. Please understand that if your scene contains numerous high resolution
textures you might reach the limits of available memory. If you experience failure to load textures
please consider reducing preview texture size.

Please note:

- If transparent objects are not displayed correctly or appear inverted, please enable multi-layer
transparency in rendering preview settings.

- It is strongly recommended that users visit the website of their graphics accelerator vendor and
update to the latest driver version.

- 'Optimize simple materials' is active by default and recommended to ease the impact of
Hardware shading on your graphics hardware. If you encounter OpenGL preview problems with
Hardware Shading enabled and 'Optimize simple materials' disabled, please activate this option.

- ATI FireGL users should select the "Poser" profile for optimal performance.

- Hardware accumulation buffer usage might fail. We recommend leaving this setting set to
software accumulation buffer.

- If your graphics hardware does not support the creation of a pbuffer for offscreen drawing
properly, you might encounter artifacts when rendering preview movies with OpenGL. If this is the
case, please do not cover the document window in Poser while exporting a movie.

- Enabling triple buffering or threaded optimization might result in redraw issues.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Working with Included Content
----------------------------------------------------------------

Poser 8 includes two versions of both M/F human skeletons. The human skeletons named Ryan
and Alyson are designed to conform inside the Ryan or Alyson figures to create medical
illustration effects. These conforming skeletons will follow the conformed figures’ poses and
positions. A semi transparent version of each character’s texture is found in the Materials in the
Library, so setting up a skeleton inside a figure is easy to achieve using these pre-configured
material collections. The fully articulated M/F skeletons are accurate versions of the human
skeleton with each bone posable. These are not designed to conform inside the human figures,
but instead work best on their own.

If you are seeking more information related to installed Poser 8 content, please look in the
"ReadMe" Folder located in the Poser 8 installed "runtime" folder. This folder is in the content
location that you selected when installing Poser 8. There are not ReadMe's for every specific
piece of content, but there are some that may help get you more familiar with how pieces of
content were designed to be used together, special features of a piece of content or in depth
details on how to use it. The P.I.C.K Content for example has a PDF file in the "ReadMe/CP
Partners/MindVision-GDS" folder which has in depth details on how to use it to its fullest potential.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Support for Graphic Tablets
----------------------------------------------------------------

If you wish to operate Poser with a graphic tablet, please make sure to activate Tablet Mode in
Edit -> General Preferences -> Interface -> Mouse Input

----------------------------------------------------------------
External Binary Morph Targets
----------------------------------------------------------------

By default, Poser 8 saves morph targets to an external binary file format (.pmd), which contains
only the morph targets for a particular figure or scene. This format allows for faster loading and
greater flexibility, as the targets are no longer enmeshed with the rest of the data in the PZ3/PZZ
scene file. This storage method also requires less disk space, as all instances of the same figure
can reference the same PMD file for morph target data when stored in the library that way. If you
change the morph targets of one or more figures created from the Library and then save your
scene, the morph target modifications will be saved in a single new PMD file accompanying the
scene file.

If you wish to save modified morph targets for any one figure independently, you must select the
Use External Binary Morph Targets option in the General Preferences palette, and then add the
modified figure back into the Library as a new figure. A new .pmd file will be created for that
figure, containing the modified morph targets. You can then reuse that figure in other scenes.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Compressed File Support
----------------------------------------------------------------

Poser 8 includes the ability to save compressed runtime files and scene files using "zlib
compression". This compression will significantly reduce the size of your runtime directory and
save valuable hard drive space. These compressed files will act identically to non-compressed
runtime files when used in Poser 8. To enable file compression, select the MISC tab on
EDIT>GENERAL PREFERENCES and check the "Save Compressed Files" option. Poser 8 will
open both compressed and non-compressed files, but writes compressed files using specific file
extensions. The General Preferences is where you can define whether or not compression is
used on saving a file. Compressed Poser files can be opened by Poser versions running Poser 4
Pro Pack or later. Zlib compression is similar to gzip and zip compression methods, and can
typically be uncompressed by any utility (such as WinZip) that handles either of these formats.

For more information on zlib, please refer to http://www.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/zlib/. To

uncompress a file, change the extension on the file you wish to access to .gz, then run your
decompression utility. Alternatively, you can use the included PoserPython decompression script
by launching Poser and opening the Python Scripts window.

Please note that all content included with Poser 8 is compressed.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Network Connections
----------------------------------------------------------------

If you run a personal firewall, you might be prompted with a message that Poser is trying to
access the internet. There are three kinds of network connections Poser tries to establish:

- Poser 4 introduced a network serial check. The network serial check ensures that only one copy
of Poser with the same serial number is running at the same time (as outlined in the EULA). This
happens frequently and is not a connection to the internet; the check only queries your local
network.

- Poser 6 introduced a check for available software updates. Poser queries the Smith Micro
update server via the internet on every third launch. A dialog will inform you when an update is
available and offer a download link. If you prefer Poser to not check for updates automatically,
you can switch off this function on the 'Misc' tab of the General Preferences.

- Poser 7 introduced an option to render in a separate process. In order to communicate with the
render process, Poser uses sockets. Some personal firewall software mistakenly reports this as
an attempted connection to the internet. If you wish to render in a separate process, you will have
to allow network communication on localhost (127.0.0.1) in your personal firewall software for
Poser.exe and FFRender.exe.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Reusing Previously Computed Shadow Maps
----------------------------------------------------------------

With the ability to reuse previously computed shadow maps, Poser 6 introduced a feature that will
save time, especially if you need to re-render often to fine tune your scene. However, to avoid
incorrect shadows please make sure to clear shadow maps after changing position of shadow
casting objects, lights or related light properties such as intensity, scale or blur radius.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Poser Native Units
----------------------------------------------------------------

One Poser Native Unit is the equivalent of 8.6 feet or 262.128 centimeters.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Real World Units for Bump & Displacement Maps
----------------------------------------------------------------

In Poser 8, strength of bump and displacement maps is expressed in real world units (whichever
unit is set under EDIT>GENERAL PREFERENCES). Please note that with the default unit of Feet
very small values already yield a strong bump or displacement effect.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Material Collections & MAT Files
----------------------------------------------------------------

Material Poses (MAT poses) come with many 3rd party content packages for Poser. Poser 6
introduced a replacement for these MAT files, called Material Collections. Like MAT files, Material
Collections provide the convenience of grouping multiple materials in a single file, but offer
seamless loading or saving of Material Collections via the Material category of the Library. Please
consult the Poser Reference Manual on how to convert MAT poses to Material Collections. While
third party MAT files still work in Poser 8, Smith Micro can only provide tech support for Mat files
or Material Collections which are actually included with your Poser 8 installation.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Gradient Bump Maps
----------------------------------------------------------------

Poser 4 and previous versions used our proprietary gradient (.BUM) file format for mapping
bumps. Poser 8 supports .BUM file usage as follows:

1. In the Material room, create an IMAGE MAP node and load your .BUM file into that node.
2. Connect the image map node with the BUM file to the root node's GRADIENT BUMP attribute.

The Poser Reference Manual PDF expands on this topic in the GRADIENT BUMP section, on
page 233.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Cloth Room
----------------------------------------------------------------

Please read your Poser Reference Manual before creating cloth objects for important tips, tricks,
and workflow information. Dynamic cloth is very sensitive to both grouping and settings, meaning
that small changes can create very different results. If you do not obtain the results you are
looking for, please try adjusting the grouping and/or cloth settings.

Conforming clothing objects are not designed for conversion into dynamic cloth objects and may
generate unexpected results. Both your Reference Manual and the Cloth Room Help expand on
this topic.

Depending on the permissions set for the hard drive Poser is installed to, setting up and running a
cloth simulation might require administrator privileges.

Switching tasks while a cloth simulation is in progress might cause reduced updating of the user
interface when returning to Poser. Please click into the background of the Poser application
window to resolve this situation.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Setup Room
----------------------------------------------------------------

Quitting and saving from the Setup room will switch to the Pose room prior to the execution of the
quit or save. For example, if there are ungrouped polygons, when a quit is attempted while
working in the Setup Room, a warning dialog will be displayed asking for confirmation of the
switch back to the Pose Room. If "NO" is selected, the switch will not take place and the Quit
request is canceled. This is normal behavior.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Raytracing
----------------------------------------------------------------

- Raytracing requires significantly greater computing resources. This is due to the nature of
raytracing itself.

- There are some situations where polygonal smoothing and raytracing should not be used at the
same time since shadows at the edge of object can appear with black artifacts. Disabling
smoothing or disabling raytracing solves this issue. If you are using reflections, try disabling
polygonal smoothing or adjusting the shadow bias to minimize or eliminate artifacts.

- Raytraced shadows or reflections cannot always accurately take into account micro-polygon
smoothed or micro-displaced polygons.

- If you feel that soft raytraced shadows (Shadow Blur Radius > 0) appear too grainy, please
lower the minimum shading rate.

- The Shadow Bias dial in a light's Properties palette is available when using raytracing. Also,
Ambient Occlusion has a bias value. You may experiment with different settings to obtain optimal
results through avoiding self shadowing.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Indirect Lighting Renderings
----------------------------------------------------------------

- Renderings with Indirect Lighting enabled can be very time consuming, in many cases, much
slower than Raytracing. Carefully plan your scene to avoid unneeded calculations that can
drastically increase rendering times.

- High Indirect Light Quality and Irradiance Caching settings equate to long render times. Note
that every red dot displayed when Poser 8 is precalculating Indirect Light traces thousands of
rays, increasing the number of points to trace rays from can add hundreds of thousands or rays.
As the Irradiance Cache slider values increase, the number of points increases.

- Low values on the Indirect Light Quality slider will reduce uniformity of indirect light and will
introduce variation in areas that would render smooth with higher settings.

- Transparent surfaces in the scene require significantly greater calculations and estimates for the
indirect illumination. If using hair with a transparency map, simpler hair models with fewer
overlapping layers can save rendering time. Positioning your camera to view only critical
transparent objects in the scene can reduce render time as well. The fewer transparent objects in
your scene, the faster it will render.

- Strand based hair will render faster than transparency mapped hair.
- To reduce rendering time, Indirect Lighting ignores lights with Ambient Occlusion. However,
Ambient Occlusion nodes on shaders are calculated, resulting in significant delays during
rendering. Removing AO nodes on shaders can greatly improve IDL rendering times.

- The more complex your scene is, i.e. the more lights, objects, and materials, the slower your
scene will render.

- Set the absolute minimum number of raytrace bounces that the objects in your scene require to
support their transparency, reflection or refraction. Additional raytrace bounces will multiply
rendering times while producing no perceivable differences in the final image.

- Test renderings of your simple scene, at low Indirect Light Quality settings, with low Irradiance
Caching values can help establish light values with faster rendering times. Rendering previews of
a scene before adding figures or other objects will save time as well. Before creating your final
rendering, use proxy (low res/white textured) figures or other objects for faster Indirect Light
scene test renders.

- Refer to the Poser 8 Reference Manual PDF, pages 293-294 for expanded details on the
settings which control Indirect Lighting.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Preferences
----------------------------------------------------------------

Poser 8 stores files containing preference information in the user's home directory. This
preference information includes Memory dots, Library preferences, Poser UI preferences, and the
Poser.ini/Poser Prefs file. These preference files are stored in the following locations:
- Windows XP:
* <DriveOnWhichWindowsIsInstalled>:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application
Data\Poser 8

- Windows Vista:
* <DriveOnWhichWindowsIsInstalled>:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Poser 8

- Mac OS X:
* /Users/<UserName>/Library/Preferences/Poser 8

----------------------------------------------------------------
Render Cache Files
----------------------------------------------------------------

The render cache for keeping rendered images and displaying them on the Render tab of the
Document window uses the following locations to store image data:
- Windows XP: <DriveOnWhichWindowsIsInstalled>:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local
Settings\Temp\PoserRenderCache
- Windows Vista:
<DriveOnWhichWindowsIsInstalled>:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\PoserRenderCac
he
- Mac OS X: /Users/<username>/Library/Caches/PoserRenderCache

You can delete the files in those folders to clear the render cache. Please note that your cached
renders will be lost after doing so.
----------------------------------------------------------------
PoserPython
----------------------------------------------------------------

- PoserPython scripts can make use of Tkinter to provide a GUI. Poser 8 ships with Tkinter 8.4.
Scripts that were written for an earlier version of Tkinter might require adjustment. Please contact
the author of your script for details.

- The 'Collect Scene Inventory' script in the 'Utility Funcs' section must be used in compliance
with the EULA of the Poser Reference Manual.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Miscellaneous
----------------------------------------------------------------

- Poser 8 supports Windows Vista. There are potential issues that might require your attention.
Please refer to our Windows Vista knowledge base article for details:
http://graphics.smithmicro.com/article/articleview/2127/1/858/

- UNC paths are not currently supported to the full extent. Please map shares (e.g. an external
runtime on a file server) as network drive to ensure proper reading and writing of data.

- Library Favorites: Items placed in the Library Favorites link to the actual files in their locations. If
you move or delete items, this link will be broken.

- Search for missing files: If Poser can not locate a file in a scene or when loading content, it asks
for your input. If you choose 'No' in response to 'Do you want to continue to look for missing files?'
it means that Poser will not prompt you while it searches for other missing files. Whatever file
search method (deep, shallow, or none) is set is still active and will continue for all files. This
means that a potentially long search can still occur even if you click 'No'. If you click ‘Yes’ Poser
will prompt you if other files can not be found.

- Rendering in separate process or Render in Background: This feature currently does not
support Adaptive Bucket Size. Please choose your bucket size wisely if you plan to render in a
separate process. A value in the range of 16-32 is a good starting point.

- Hair with overly high Bend Resistance values may not collide correctly.

- Face room heads are designed to work with Poser 5, 6, 7 and 8 figures. Applying Face room
heads to non-supported figures will create unexpected and possibly undesirable results. Currently
supported are Judy and Don (Poser 5), Jessi & James (Poser 6), Sydney & Simon (Poser 7)
Alyson and Ryan and their ethnic variations (Poser 8). Additionally, the following add-on figures
are supported: Miki, James G2, Kelvin G2, Koji G2 and Olivia.

- Camera and Pose dots are unique per room meaning that you can create unique Camera dots
in the Pose room that will not appear in any other room. This option gives you flexibility when
setting up your Poser workspace.

- The View Magnifier tool has no built-in limits, allowing you to get very close to your scene for
fine detail work. Because of this, you could inadvertently zoom inside a figure or prop. If this
happens, press CTRL while clicking in the Document window to zoom out or press CTRL-Z to
undo the magnification.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Poser 8 AND Exporting Adobe(r) Flash(tm)
----------------------------------------------------------------

There is a maximum limit of 253 colors for Flash animations; we strongly recommend that the
colors be limited to 8 or less when exporting from Poser 8. This will decrease export time and
decrease file size and improve Web performance. Poser 8 Web Animations are best used
(viewed) at 12 frames per second for Flash output.

----------------------------------------------------------------
KNOWN ISSUES
----------------------------------------------------------------

- Anti-virus software set to scan on file access can cause significant delays during installation

- Boot volume becomes invisible on OS X systems

- File I/O
- Poser 8 is now consistently writing relative, platform-neutral paths whenever possible. Benefits
are:
* Backward compatibility with older Poser versions on Mac OS X
* More portability when moving files from Mac to Windows and vice versa, from one machine to
another if the runtime locations are not identical, and when runtimes are moved on the same
system (e.g because a new hard disk was added)
* Less cleanup required before sharing a newly created library item with other users
- Poser 8 consistently searches referenced file next to PZ3/PZZ location if the file can't be
located in the current or main runtime.

- Adding an external runtime requires the 'Runtime' key word to be present in the path. Please
adjust your folder structure accordingly.

- "UNC paths are not currently supported to the full extent. Please map shares (e.g. an external
runtime on a file server) as network drive to ensure proper reading and writing of data".- If
spherical or capsule zones are persistently displayed in a room document window, they can be
dismissed by opening and closing joint editor.

- We strongly recommend saving hair groups to the Hair library with their underlying prop. This is
because hair is grown from vertices and must be associated with vertices on its underlying object
in order to function correctly.

- To save hair to the Library palette, select a hair group (or its underlying prop) then click the ADD
TO LIBRARY button. You will be prompted to select your desired hair subset(s). Clicking the
SELECT SUBSET button opens a hierarchical display allowing you to select the hair groups that
you want to save. Be sure to save the parent object!

- When saving a subset of props to the library only the currently selected object will retain its
morph targets. To save morph targets on all members of the subset choose Edit->General
Preferences... and uncheck "Use external binary morph targets" temporarily. Once the subset has
been saved to the library, "Use external binary morph targets" may be reactivated.

- Adding a prop to the library: When adding a prop with morph targets that is parented to a figure,
the prop might not retain its morph targets if Poser is set to write external binary morph targets. In
case you encounter this problem, please choose Edit->General Preferences... and uncheck 'Use
external binary morph targets' temporarily. Once you're done adding figure-parented props with
morph targets to the library, you may reactivate 'Use external binary morph targets'.
- Texture search: In previous Poser versions, textures were occasionally specified by their file
name only. Since in that case the search mechanism has to search with just the name, it will find
the first texture with a matching name. Please keep your texture names unique to avoid loading
the wrong texture when opening legacy scene files. Poser 8 always attempts to store an
application relative path or an absolute path (whichever is appropriate) in the scene file. Also, the
Poser 8 Texture Manager always displays the full path of all loaded or previously loaded textures.
This will aid in determining the location of any texture file.

- Color on the alternate diffuse channel of a root node will not preview in the document window.

- If you have difficulties using the Face room's photo matching feature due to the rotation of the
head in your photos not matching the selection outlines, please consider rotating your
photographs in an image editing application. Please refer to the Poser Tutorial manual (see
'Content and Tutorials' above) for additional information.

- A note on using the DivX codec when making movies: the DivX codec can only be used with
standard aspect ratio (4:3).

- Some 3D file formats have restrictions in output size. In 3D Studio (.3ds), an object can consist
of no more than 65,000 polygons. In Lightwave 5 (.lwo), the maximum size of a scene is 65,000
polygons. Please use the LWO2 export option if you want to export LWO files of objects larger
that 65,000 polygons.

- Using the Auto Install feature in the Content room might leave temporary files behind. Please
delete the files in the temp folder if you want to conserve disk space (Windows only).

- There is an incompatibility with Unsanity's Window Shade X potentially causing an undesired

Window Shade effect on Poser palettes. Please add Poser to Window Shade X' list of excluded
applications if you encounter this problem (Mac OS X only).
