Goals

Goal #1: Read text at a level 12 accurately and fluently by the end of the Term 3
Key Learning Area: Reading

In order to achieve this goal, the following strategies will be employed


• Apps on his IPad - online books such as RAZ kids which read books to the student
• word games
• Guided Reading Group sessions
• Independent Reading sessions - choosing a 'Just Right' book based on topic of interest and reading level
• Learning goal for Reading - chunking/sounding out words
Additional Support/Resources:
regular home reading
- regular independent reading in class
- selecting books of interest from school Library for classroom
- Phonics resources (at home)
- Reading Eggs App
- Story before bed (most nights)
- OT visiting home once a month
Evaluation
At the time of evaluating the ILP, Marcus is reading at a Level 14. He has achieved his goal for this term and should be very pleased with his efforts.
Goal #2: Make and describe number patterns with objects.
Key Learning Area: Mathematics

In order to achieve this goal, the following strategies will be employed


• morning work activities
• creating patterns using objects such as blocks, counters and playing cards
• iPad Apps - Targetting Maths and Doodle Buddy
• small group Guided Maths sessions
Additional Support/Resources:
- whole class focuses
- games

Evaluation
Marcus is able to create patterns with blocks and shapes of different colour and size. A focus on number patterns will continue next term.
Goal #3: Able to choose from a range of calming strategies when feeling 'angry' or 'upset'
Key Learning Area: Personal Learning

In order to achieve this goal, the following strategies will be employed


• tent (10 minutes with timer), fidget toys

• working towards participating in Lego Club at lunchtime

• chew necklace
Additional Support/Resources:
- Behaviour Therapy sessions at home and school
- Positive Praise
- Pictures story books 'When I Get Angry'
- Social stories - 'When I Get Angry'

Evaluation
Marcus is still needing support to regulate his emotions. He continues to need support in choosing strategies when he is angry or frustrated. This will
continue to be a goal in Term 4.

Goal #4: Independently identify when he requires a movement break.
Key Learning Area: Personal Learning

In order to achieve this goal, the following strategies will be employed


• use of a “fidget cube/fidget or sensory toy” to remain engaged and on task.
• Morning Work - Fine Motor Skills - Threading, building with blocks, tweezer tasks
Additional Support/Resources:
- 'I need a break' card on desk to give to teacher/ES when feel needs a movement break
- exercise ball
- iPad App - Dexteria (visual motor and fine motor skill developement)
- Tote bag for school - exercise band around chair, body sock, bloom stool and weighted turtle.

Goal #5: Waiting his turn to talk and listening when somebody else is talking to him.
Key Learning Area: Personal Learning

In order to achieve this goal, the following strategies will be employed


• Positive Praise
• Visual talking card ("one person talks at a time") - on whiteboard, Teacher and ES lanyards
• Using the vocabulary in getting Marcus to repeat the instruction 'What did _________ say Marcus?'
• Social Story 'Waiting for my Turn to Talk' read at beginning of the school day with Teacher/ES
Additional Support/Resources:
- Social Story sent home everyday
- Behaviour Therapy sessions at home and school

Evaluation
The use of a visual card has been used to help Marcus identify when it is another's persons turn to speak. This should continue to be a goal in Term 4.
