INTRODUCTION
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a disability regarding developmental which can cause
social, communication and behavioural changes. The term “spectrum”, means all the different
types of symptoms, skills and levels of distinguished impairment that the people who suffers
from ASD have. ASD affects people with many different ways and can range from mild to
serious. Some may be not so serious than the other. One of the main symptoms that we can
find in people with ASD are they have a difficulty with social interaction s. but this is not
found in everyone. There are differences in the beginning of the symptoms, how serious they
are, and the total number of symptoms. And all these can change overtime. The signs of ASD
usually starts in the early childhood, commonly in the first 2 years of life but a small number
of children shows within the first year of life. ADS does not distinguish between races, ethnic

group or economical background, it affects everyone. According to the research conducted by
the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it was estimated that about 1 in every
68 children in the United states of America can be identified as having ASD.

HOW IT AFFECTS COMMUNICATION:

The word “Autism” is originated from the Greek word “autos”, meaning “Self”. The children
who are diagnosed with ASD are usually self-absorbed and they look to live in a private
world where they are limited to communication with other people. Children with ASD cannot
communicate or find it hard to communicate nonverbally, like thoughts, hand gesture and
facial expression. However, each child has the ability to communicate and speak depending
on the development of their intellectual and social. Some may have difficulty in in
communicating using speech or language and some can communicate but in limit while some
can communicate in great vocabulary and great details. They lack the ability to understand
different body languages and cannot seems to have notice the different tone in voice hence
they can’t understand the meaning. Due to all these reasons, children with ASD have a hard
time communicating or talking to others, including people who are of the same age as them.

Some of the patterns found in children with ASD:

Children with ASD who can speak are usually found to say things which has no relation or
meaning to the conversation that they have with other people. For example, a child ASD will
start to count numbers from 1 to say 10 while he is in a conversation with other people about
some other topic which is not related to numbers. While some other keeps on repeating the
word they said and even the words they heard on the television.

Children with ASD are often found to be unable to use hand gestures and body languages like
pointing to an object or facial expression. They usually avoid eye contact which can make
them appear rude to others and inattentive etc. due to their lack in nonverbal skills they
cannot expressed their thoughts, feeling etc. which makes them frustrated leading to some
vocal outburst such as shouting or unusual behaviour.

Children with ASD are found to have uneven development. For example, some children may
have good memories of what they had just heard or seen but when it comes to long term they
don’t have that much of a good memory, some children may be able to read words at a young
age than normal but they cannot seems to interpret or comprehend what they have read and
sometimes they do not seems to notice the speech of others and they don’t respond to their
own name. Due to this some of the children with ASD are often mistaken to have hearing
problem.

How are the problems of ASD treated?

On the off chance that a Doctor presumes a children has ASD or another formative
development, the children in question for the most part will suggest the kid to an assortment
of experts, including a discourse language pathologist. This is a wellbeing proficient prepared

suitable treatment program. What's more, the discourse language pathologist may make a
referral for a conference test to ensure the kid's hearing is ordinary.

Showing kids with ASD to improve their relational abilities is basic for helping them arrive at
their maximum capacity. There are a wide range of approaches, yet the best treatment
program starts ahead of schedule, during the preschool years, and is customized to the kid's
age and interests. It should address both the youngster's conduct and relational abilities and
offer normal fortification of positive activities. Most kids with ASD react well to profoundly
organized, specific projects. Guardians or essential parental figures, just as other relatives,
ought to be engaged with the treatment program so it turns out to be a piece of the kid's day
by day life.

For some more youthful kids with ASD, improving discourse and language abilities is a
sensible objective of treatment. Guardians and parental figures can build a kid's possibility of
arriving at this objective by focusing on their language improvement from the get-go.
Similarly as babies figure out how to slither before they walk, youngsters initially create pre-
language abilities before they start to utilize words. These aptitudes incorporate utilizing eye
to eye connection, signals, body developments, impersonation, and chattering and different
vocalizations to enable them to impart. Kids who do not have these abilities might be
assessed and treated by a discourse language pathologist to forestall further formative
