Installation

Things to note before the installation

INFINITY Industrial PC (IPC)

- One end of the power supply cable is already connected by us to the IPC for your convenience
- It is recommended that you place the IPC in the desired installation location before plugging it into
the power supply of the vessel

- When the IPC is plugged in to AC power, it switches on

automatically!

- When the box is on, a green light (PWR LED) on the front will turn on. Next to this green light,
there is a second red light (HDD ACTIVITY LED) which flashes whenever there is hard disk activity.
The IPC boot up takes 4-5 minutes, as the system loads up and once the red light stops blinking
the box will be ready for use.

-8-
- If you need to unplug or shut down the box you must press
the off button. Please be patient as the shutdown
procedure will take a few minutes!

PBX

- The PBX power supply is designed to be difficult to remove as it is not recommended to remove it.

- When the PBX is plugged in to AC power, it switches on

automatically!
- There is no ON/OFF switch

- When the PBX is ready for use, the green lights (POWER and LINE lights) will come on.

- The PBX should not be unplugged unless there is an issue.

- If a red light comes on the PBX, this indicates an issue.
Should this happen please recycle the power by
disconnecting the unit from the vessels’ power supply and
wait 60 seconds before reconnecting. If the problem
persists see the chapter on Troubleshooting.

INFINITY Voice Version Installation

Please read all below steps before installing.

1. Unpack the IPC and place it in its final position but do not plug it into the AC power supply yet.

- Please note that the cables must be plugged into the rear of the

what they will be connected to.

2. Unpack the PBX and place it in its final position but do not plug it into AC power supply yet. For
wall mounting please use the included drilling template

- Please note that the cables should be plugged into the rear of the
PBX. Ensure that the position of the PBX allows all cables to reach
what they will be connected to.

3. The two Ethernet ports of the IPC should be connected to the Fleet Broadband and the PBX. In
diagram below you can see the IPC ports and the cable connections.

Terminals

Thrane and Thrane Sailor FB250 & FB500

IP Handset registration

1. Connect your laptop direct to the Sailor LAN port and open an Internet browser. In the address
type the terminal IP to connect to dashboard. The default IP is http://192.168.0.1 but may be
different depending on customer request.

handset number 0502 does not exist, please do the following:
- Click the “New” option that is located under “Actions”.
- In the window that opens set the handset number to “0502” and password is “0502”

b. In newer firmware the handsets are already created but they are “Unreserved” (see image
above). If you have this newer firmware and the handsets are already created please do the
following:
- Click the “Edit” option that is located under “Actions”.
- In the window that opens, verify that the handset number is “0502” and password is
“0502”

- The Thrane and Thrane Sailor FB150 is not compatible with

This completes the installation procedure. Please now see the the Testing Chapter and follow the
testing steps to ensure that the system is working properly.

Furuno 250 & 500

IP Handset registration

1. Connect your laptop direct to the Furuno LAN port and open an Internet browser. In the address
bar, type the terminal IP to connect to dashboard. The default IP is http://192.168.1.1 but this
may be different depending on the customer’s setup.

You have completed the installation procedure. Please go to the Testing Chapter and follow the
testing steps to ensure that the system is working properly.

- 18 -
JRC 250 & 500

Voice connection

1. The JRC uses an ISDN communication only and so is not able to use IP Handset registration. In
order to handle ISDN calls an extra card has been added to the PBX. Please remove the PBX cover
panel following the instructions that you can find in INFINITY Voice Installation step 4 and verify
that the extra card is attached to PBX.

2. The extra ISDN card has an RJ-45 port to which one end of a certified ISDN connection cable is
already connected. The other end of the cable should be connected to JRC Fleet Broadband ISDN
port.

- 19 -
- Due to ISDN cable technical limitations, please only use
the certified ISDN cable that is provided with the INFINITY
unit!
- Do not use an Ethernet cable!

Port forwarding

Due to JRC technical limitations port forwarding is not possible to be done through JRC
terminals with firmware version lower than 01.27 for JRC 250 and 11.40 for JRC 500. To bypass this
situation a NAVARINO’s Mikrotik router is connected between the JRC Fleet Broadband Ethernet port
and the INFINITY ETH0 port. The connection diagram is displayed below.

*special NAVARINO Mikrotik router setup may be required

JRC’s firmware version 01.27 for JRC 250 and 11.40 for JRC 500 and above introduces a new
functionality which gives the ability to have always activated connection. All traffic is being forwarded
to INFINITY ETH0 IP and so there is no need for Mikrotik router. Below you can find the steps to
enable this option and setup it to work with INFINITY.

- 20 -
- If the firmware needs update a certified technician must
fulfill the operation!

1. Connect your laptop with JRC and login using the JRC Launcher.

- The default terminal user name is ADMIN and password 0001

2. Click NETWORK  Network drop down menu Always activate.

3. Using Setting 1 and Profile 1 insert the INFINITY IP 192.168.128.139 to Local IP boxes, click
SET and OK to the message box.

4. Reboot the terminal to apply the changes.

- 21 -
The connection diagram using this option turns to the following:

Blue Ethernet cable

INFINITY IPC

You have completed the installation procedure. Please go to the Testing Chapter and follow the
testing steps to ensure that the system is working properly.

address and change the IP address to the new one. Then click Apply button and then Yes to
confirm the change. Wait two seconds or three for the system to apply the change and as soon as
it is ready a “Success Settings saved” message will appear.

- If the ETH0 IP changes to a different network, the Gateway

IP of the interface must be changed also!

- 25 -
-*If the ETH0 IP changes to a different network, the
Gateway IP of the interface must be changed also!

6. Finally a system reboot is required. Click the Reboot button and then Yes to confirm the reboot.
Wait for a while and a “Success Rebooting” message will appear, indicating that the reboot
procedure has begun.

- The reboot procedure needs several minutes to complete.

- During this time please do not unplug the industrial pc
from the power!

- 26 -
You have now completed the IP change procedure.

Manual Fail Over

Although the INFINITY supports automatic fail over, there is an option that manually a user can
change the default gateway. This change can be made following the below steps:

1. Connect your laptop to the ETH1 and wait some seconds to obtain an IP address.

2. Open your web browser and in the address bar type http://infinity and press Enter.

3. You will need to login as fallback user to have access to the INFINITY industrial pc’s fail over
interface setup. In the login window insert name, password and click over the Login button.

- The default fall back user name is fallback and password

- In order to use this functionality the eth3 interface must be
activated!

4. After the login a new page with the all available gateways appears. Using the drop down menu
you can change the default gateway from one to the other and click over Apply, Yes and wait for
a second to save the settings.

- 27 -
5. After the change a system reboot is required.
