Panel Discussions

In the panel discussion in assignment 1, you will be given a topic to discuss

for the assignment. This might be a general news topic or one about social
affairs, or one related to the business environment. For example, a possible
topic could be:
“What kind of qualities do you think are needed to work in the business field?”

Panel member 1: I think being able to meet deadlines is an important quality.

Showing that you are able to meet deadlines, such as finishing assignments
on time would be an advantage.
Panel member 2: That’s right, and I also think being career minded is
important; if you both short and long term goals in your CV it looks good.
Panel member 3: Yes, but on the other hand, if you appear timid, such as
having short answers to questions during an interview, that is not good.
Panel member 4: And it is also vital to pay attention to detail as well; make
sure that there are no spelling mistakes in the CV!

Work with a partner and make similar dialogues using the vocabulary.
Remember to give an example of how the candidate should shows or not
show that quality.
