CONDITIONAL SENTENCE

Learn the following explanation

– There are three types :


1. Type 1
Real Conditionals (Real Situations in the present or future)

Condition Independent clause

If + present tense , Future tense

eg : – If I study hard , I will pass the exam.


Fact : “I may study hard in the future”
– If I have a new motorcycle, I will be happy.
Fact : “I may have a new motorcycle in the future”
2. Type 2
Imposible Result (Unreal situation in the present time)
Condition Independent clause
If + past tense , S + would
could + V1
might

eg : – If I knew the answer, I would tell you.


Fact : “I don’t know the answer”
– If I were a millionaire, I would go around the wold.
Fact : “I am not a millionaire”
3. Type 3
Past Conditionals (Unreal situation in the past time)
Condition Independent clause
If + past perfect , S + would
could have + V3
might

eg : – If I had known your phone number. I would have called you.


Fact : “I didn’t know your phone number”
– If I had time, I would have visited you.
