Objetivo general:
Identificar los números cardinales y ordinales en inglés, para
aplicarlos en su diario vivir.

INTRODUCCION
Los números son una de las bases de cualquier idioma,
además, es de las primeras cosas que te enseñan
cuando comienzas en una lengua. Con esta entrada
pretendemos que aprendas todos los números (tanto cardinales como
ordinales). Así que, ¡vamos!

Uso de los números cardinales

Cuando usamos los números naturales para contar los
elementos de un determinado conjunto los llamamos
números cardinales.  Imagina que tienes un conjunto de
galletas como el que se muestra en la imagen de abajo.  Si
realizas el proceso de contar encontrarás que hay ocho
galletas en total.  Decimos entonces que el cardinal del
conjunto es ocho, ya que este número representa la
cantidad de elementos que tiene el conjunto.

Usos Numeros ordinales

1. Lo usamos con las fechas

Example: Today is July 20th. (Hoy es 20 de julio)

2. Los números ordinales se usan para hablar de una

posición en una lista, en una competencia, en una lista de
instrucciones, etc. Por ejemplo:

–First, open your eyes. (Primero, abran los ojos)

-Second, stand up. (Segundo, levántense)
-Third, jump. (Tercero, salten)
-Fourth, sit down. (Cuarto, siéntense)
 
3. Podemos usar también el artículo definido “the”:
She was the fifth person who solved the math exercise. (Ella fue la quinta persona
que resolvió el ejercicio de matemáticas)
 
4. Para hablar de reyes, reinas y las guerras mundiales:

–Richard IV (Se escribe sin THE pero se lee: Richard the Fourth): Ricardo Cuarto
-The Second World War: La Segunda Guerra Mundial

AM y PM, ¿cómo se usan?
Otro detalle a tener en cuenta es que ellos normalmente no usan el reloj de 24

horas.

Se utiliza por escrito:

 a.m. (am) para las horas anteriores al mediodía

 p.m. (pm) para la tarde y la noche

Mientras nosotros diríamos ‘nos vemos a las cinco’ o ‘nos vemos a las 17h’, ellos

dicen ‘see you at 5 pm’.
