Headline: IRC2010 will be held in Hanoi

Date: 14th October 2010

Summary:

DTTC – The IRC2010 will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam, in November.

The IRC2010 will be hosted by the Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural
Development (MARD), and jointly organized by the International Rice Research Institute
(IRRI) and Asia Congress Events Management Co. Ltd (ACE). The most important
purpose of this global eye – catching event is to identify sustainable solutions to ensure
food security for future generations.

Amidst constant pressure on global food production, worsening poverty, and climate
change, the need to find ways to ensure there is enough affordable rice for everyone is
critical. More than half of the world’s population, or more than 3 billion people, depend
on rice as their main food, including around 640 million in Asia who live in extreme
poverty.
