First, falling in love can disrupt brain work. Brain is the most important part of
the body. If a part of the brain does not work, then something will be disrupted.
The brain controls all the body's work from running, breathing, walking, and so
on. However, when people are in love there is a part of the brain that is not
working. According to Semir Zeki of University College London in September
2000, there are many parts of the brain that are active when you are doing
normal activities but when you fall in love one of the large areas of the brain
dies, although it is important in processing certain things. Zeki believes the
death occurs to the frontal cortex, part of the brain that regulates judgment,
decision making, problem solving, and spontaneity, occurs. That is the reason
why people who fall in love find it hard to seeing their partner’s mistakes, which
is why the term "love is blind" existed (Adnamazida, 2012). Based on this
statement when someone is falling in love, there is a part of the brain which is
not active, even though this part is very important to do daily activities,
especially for teenagers. They can have difficulty in problem solving or making
decision.
Second, falling in love can trigger some hormones. Hormones are chemical
messengers to the organs of the body (“Hormon”, 2018). Hormone levels in the
body are very influential to the body itself. When someone falls in love, many
hormones will be secreted. One of the hormones that will come out is the
dopamine hormone. This dopamine hormone is a hormone that stimulates pain
and satisfaction. This hormone is associated with addiction, passion, euphoria,
and an attitude of unyielding love. The next hormone that comes out is the
serotonin that comes out because of the dopamine. High serotonin hormones
can be found in people who are affected by Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
(OCD), which is why when in love they are anxious, nervous, and doubtful.
Therefore, falling in love can make someone in a situation where they are not
aware of pursuing things that are uncertain, they can even do everything they
can to get someone who is loved (Adnamazida, 2012).
Third, falling in love can interfere with the health of the body. According to a
study of adolescents, when you fall in love, you are in those initial stages of
euphoria. That means you feel more energized and positive in the early morning
and evenings, causing you to not sleep as well, or have restless sleep (Tigar,
2016). The danger caused by sleep disorders are increased body weight and
made a dumb. According to a 2004 study, people who sleep less than six hours a
day were almost 30 percent more likely to become obese than those who slept
seven to nine hours. It seems to be related to an increase in hunger, appetite, and
possibly to obesity. Sleep plays a critical role in thinking and learning. Lack of
sleep hurts these cognitive processes in many ways. First, it impairs attention,
alertness, concentration, reasoning, and problem solving. This makes it more
difficult to learn efficiently. Second, during the night, various sleep cycles play a
role in “consolidating” memories in the mind. If you do not get enough sleep,
you want to be able to remember what you learned and experienced during the
day (Peri, 2014).
In brief, teenagers who are in love can cause negative things. It can prompt
disruption of the work of the brain which can affect in terms of making decisions
because there are parts of the brain that do not work. Falling in love also
activate some hormones like dopamine hormones which trigger a sense of
addiction and serotonin hormones which makes someone become worried.
Body health can also be affected when falling in love. It can lead to disruption of
sleep that results in various problems for the body such as increasing body
weight and making fools.
