INTRODUCTION

 What is sport…?
Sports are all forms of physical activity that contribute to physical fitness, mental well-
being and social interaction. It can be a daily exercise or an Olympic competition. We
can call sport for both of them or they are included in sports and some people like to
watch other people play sports. Those who watch others playing sports are called fans.
While some fans watch sports on television, others actually go to stadiums or other places
where people pay to watch them in person. These fans are called spectators.

Awareness about physical fitness exercise and health is essential for everyone.

General fitness is a part of overall health. It means having a healthy body weight as well as
an ability to perform physical activities without tiring easily. Specific fitness is the opposite of
this form of fitness. It refers to how well a person is able to master specific levels in a Sport.

Physical fitness is a basic state of wellness and well-being and, extra especially, the
capacity to perform aspects of Sports, occupations and day-to-day movements.

What is the benefits of Sports for children and students..?

In sports we can also help children learn to interact with adults such as parents and their teachers.
Any parent knows that young children are filled with energy, eager to run, jump and play.
Transferring that natural energy to competitive sports can help keep kids active and healthy as
the grow, and other distractions increase that may lead to a more sedentary lifestyle. Competitive
sports such as soccer, track, basketball and swimming can also help kids learn important life
lessons about teamwork and fair play.
One of the most important person which I have shown my students many times was
Cristiano Ronaldo. He is the most unbelievable footballer and also my idol . Cristiano is
the history of football that’s why I included his name in my report and teaching for my
students.

We Can Improve our Health and Well-being Through Physical Activity and Sport.

Physical activity and healthy sports are essential for our health and well-being. Appropriate
physical activity and sports for all constitute one of the major components of a healthy lifestyle,
along with healthy diet, tobacco free life and avoidance of other substances harmful to health.

Available experience and scientific evidence show that the regular practice of appropriate
physical activity and sports provides people, male and female, of all ages and conditions,
including persons with disability, with wide range of physical, social and mental health benefits.

It interacts positively with strategies to improve diet, discourage the use of tobacco, alcohol and
drugs, helps reduce violence, enhances functional capacity and promotes social interaction and
integration. Physical activity is for an individual; a strong means for prevention of diseases and
for nations a cost-effective methods to improve public health across the population.

Economic impact through Sports.

The value of sport to local government and communities extends beyond sport for sport’s sake.
There is considerable evidence of sport’s role in delivering a wide variety of benefits to
communities and individuals, including economic growth.

Sport can help increase economic prosperity, provide employment opportunities and contribute
towards raising aspirations and increasing skill levels.

Sports activities and events, sports facilities, sports volunteering, sports leadership, sports
training and sport employment schemes all help develop the knowledge, skills and productivity
of individuals and communities and create strong and vibrant neighborhood’s and cities where
people want to live and businesses invest.
Key Facts:

 In 2010, sport and sport-related activity contributed £20.3 billion to the English economy –
1.9% of the England total

 The contribution to employment is even greater – sport and sport-related activity is

estimated to support over 400,000 full-time equivalent jobs, 2.3% of all jobs in England

 The estimated economic value of sport-related volunteering is £2.7 billion

 The annual value of health benefits from people taking part in sport is estimated at £11.2
billion.

OBJECTIVES OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

 Self-Esteem and Confidence

1. When you participate in school sports, you develop a variety of techniques and
skills.

2. You engage in friendly competition with your schoolmates,

3. Having an easier time maintaining a healthy body weight and have a lower risk of
developing obesity.

4. Boys and girls who play sports have more positive body images than those who
are sedentary.
5. When you play well and win games, you gain a sense of accomplishment, which
helps shape self-esteem.

 Improved Social Skills

This was the important part of my CDP Project because Participation in school sports
provides a sense of belonging and being part of a team or group. You interact with your
peers in a friendly manner. You learn to consider the interests of your teammates and to
practice mutual respect and cooperation. You work together, share time and other
resources, take turns to play and learn to cope with success and failure as a team.

These interactions facilitate bonding and lasting friendships with your schoolmates,
which can help make children more sociable and outgoing as they grow.

 Lower Risk of Negative Influences

As we know that most of illegal things in a society is rising from poverty and the main reason
behind it is poverty but Youth who participate in sports are less likely to commit crimes.

Engaging in sports reduces the amount of unsupervised free time on your hands and prevents
boredom. This makes options such as smoking, drinking and drugs less appealing.

 Extra information

According to the Women’s Sport Foundation, girls who play sports do better at school and learn
the importance of goal setting, strategizing and planning, all of which can be components of
success in the workplace. They are also less likely to have sex or get pregnant at an early age,
according to the Women's Sports Foundation.

 Learn Life Skills

Playing a sport teaches students many valuable life skills including leadership, the value
of teamwork and cooperation. Athletic teens also learn how to handle stress and pressure,
set goals and work hard to reach a goal. Playing a sport allows students and teenagers to
build relationships with their coaches and peers. All of these experiences will help
teenagers learn how to work with others as well as become easy to work with later in life,
whether it's at home, at school or on the job.

NEED AND SCOPE OF SPORTS AND FITNESS

We all are familiar with both the terms ‘Sports‘and ‘Fitness‘. Sports play a very vital role in our
life as it keeps us active and healthy. We all have heard that “A healthy mind needs a healthy
body” which means that we can have a healthy mind if and only if we have a healthy body.
Playing a sport is a great kind of workout as it increases the cardiovascular functioning and
hence decreases the risk of chokes and heart attacks and also sports helps the individuals to
maintain a healthy weight.

The need and scope of the project is to spread the awareness about the importance of Sports
and Fitness among the students in my locality as they are not aware of it.They are not having
any Sports and Fitness class or any coach to train them so I under assistance of one of the
sports teacher trained them in various sports and games.

 These Sports and fitness classes improve their health and make them fit.

 It will help them in maintaining their physical as well as mental development.

 It will strengthen their bones and growth.

 It will improve their flexibility and increases their stamina.

 It will develop their leadership qualities in them.

 It will develop the qualities of teamwork and sportsmanship.

 It helps in maintaining a healthy body weight.

 It will help in reducing stress level and pressure.

 It will help students develop coordination and teaches them how to care for their bodies
through proper stretching and the development of fundamental mechanics.
METHODOLOGY

The project is carried out by providing daily Sports and Fitness classes for the physical
and mental development of the students under the assistance of sports teacher. The field
work is carried out more on practical basis than the theoretical.

 We decided to conduct one hour Sports classes for them daily.

 We seek permission from the school authority for arranging these classes.

 We managed to provide ground and court to train them.

 We taught them basic fitness exercises first.

 We started training them the basic skills of Football

 We thought them the skills of basketball, volleyball.

 Later on we evaluated them on the basis of their performance in the particular sports.

 Those who are having good skills in football we focus them towards football, those who
are performing well in basketball we focus them towards basketball and those who are
performing well in volleyball we focus them towards volleyball
 We provided training to the student of junior section so that with their performance rest
of the student will also influence towards the sport and fitness and by seeing them the
local people will also take initiative and allow their children to participate in such
activities.

CONCLUSIONS

Sports and fitness classes are not available in every school: during the field work in local
areas . it was observed that There is no single Cricket or Rugby nor Tennis facilities in all the
rural areas.
Whose responsibility it is to help out to develop sports facilities in the rural areas. Don't get me
wrong. I am not talking about fancy stadiums. I am talking about a simple open field.
The Schools in the whole of rural areas they don't have proper sports grounds. Club sport is not
even possible because there is partnership between the schools and the community. The
schools operate in isolation and play no meaning role in the development of the community.

Our studies have shown: that concentrated poverty in particular areas has harsh impacts on
families with children and young people. It limits the level of outdoor activity; it restricts young
peoples’ access to local facilities and clubs, for fear of trouble and peer pressure; it is strongly
linked to poor health, disability, inactivity and weight problems. Low incomes also restrict the
amount of participation that children and young people experience, including most sport.

Schools are very important in keeping young people and children active: it has lots of benefits
for their future life and good sports programs with good facilities and an active sport teacher
inspires young people. Teachers can become very powerful role models . But in my locality most

of schools are threating sports as an optional subject because of less facility regarding grounds
and good sport teachers. Whenever sport period is starting most of teachers are not presenting
their period because they don’t have the facility to teach them well and in a better way.
No dedicated sport places: in most of schools it was observed that dedicated areas are not
available for students for playing their favorite sport. I saw that every student is playing different
sports in same area. In an open area which was full of grasses most of students were playing
basketball on a grass surface.

Unavailability of sport instruments: the balls and sport instruments are too old now. No one is
paying attention. in some sports its possible sometimes for example in football sometimes
football ball is exploding its happening but in my locality if they face such kind of situation then
the student which has the last touch to the ball he have to pay for the ball unfairly ministry of
education is not providing them sport facilities nor instruments .

Ministry of education is not paying attention: they are not providing grounds and sport
instruments for the schools. I think they have the ability to provide grounds and sport
instruments for the students but they are not threating sports as one of important subjects. Even
during talking with some teachers I got that they tried lots of time to get in touch with ministry
of education to talk regarding grounds and other facilities for sports but they are not paying
attention.
