Mr. Antó nio Manuel de Oliveira Guterres

Executive-Secretary
United Nations
405 East 42nd Street
New York, 10017, USA

Dear Mr. António Guterres:

I am writing to you because it seems important to me to discuss the technological advances of

our era and its implications for the environment. In my opinion, technological advances have
negatively affected the environment. While I believe that all these advances have contributed to
improving the quality of life of human beings, we cannot deny that today we face a threat of
climate change that will have catastrophic consequences for the entire planet earth.

I think environmental pollution is a consequence of the bad invention of technology. Every day
the population is greater worldwide, so there is more demand but at the same time there is
pollution, more polluted rivers, more species in danger of extinction, because the human being
has become selfish and believes that the mute it is our own, when in truth we share it with many
more species.

I suggest that you go to the governments of the world to take urgent measures against the
different environmental phenomena that are presented by the contamination of the planet earth, it
is evident that if something is not done, climate change will be harder in some places, for what I
ask you to convene to a world forum, to the different leaders of the world in the Colombian
Amazon, more precisely in the City of Florence, which is the golden door of the Amazon in our
country, with the objective of taking environmental measures, encouraging the use of clean
energy, to support ecological projects and to join economic efforts to curb deforestation in the
world, in this way an important step would be taken to conserve biodiversity in our mother earth
and thus leave a cleaner planet for our next generations.

Sincerely,

Yesenia Ocupa Castillo
