Council’s Works & Engineering Services Branch is seeking an
enthusiastic person to fill the position of Engineering Technical
Officer – R1886.

This position is part of Infrastructure Works & Services Unit based

at MRCC Red Cliffs Depot.

Position Objectives
The officer will be responsible for:

In conjunction with the Infrastructure Works & Infrastructure

Services Coordinator(s) (and other nominated senior officers);
supporting various engineering, road construction and
maintenance, asset management, site surveying, condition
assessment and investigation performed by the business unit.
Duties comprise; assisting in the preparation of project designs,
contract documentation, monitoring of capital works projects,
surveying of road infrastructure, investigations and job estimates
of works.

Providing higher level support and advice to the Infrastructure

Works and Infrastructure Services team staff.

Assisting with and undertaking investigation, define scope of

works, prepare project plans and briefs for council capital works
program.

Having a strong customer focus and team player attitude

Qualifications and Experience

Ideally the successful applicant will have the following:

A Diploma or Certificate IV in Civil Engineering with relevant

experience or lesser formal qualification and substantial
experience in a Local Government environment or closely
related field.

High level computer experience including Microsoft Office Suite,

AutoCAD and simulation software.

Working knowledge of road construction and maintenance

works, drainage works and traffic design principles.

Some experience in the production of plan drawings, conceptual

designs and jobs estimates.

Working knowledge of surveying procedures associated with

engineering projects.

Ability to prepare contract documentation, tender preparation

under direction from the supervisor.

Experience in site work/ project supervision and the production

of site inspection reports

Salary and Conditions

The position is classified within Band 6 of Council’s Current
Enterprise Agreement commencing at $82,644.12 per annum plus
statutory superannuation.

hold a Working with Children Check. Additionally, applicants may
also be required to undergo a National Criminal History check
and/or medical check as per the requirements of the role.
