Purpose and objectives Community Social Assistance Service

The community social assistance service aims to provide social


assistance at community level in order to prevent and overcome
situations of difficulty at community level. The objectives of the
community social assistance service consist in:

Identifying people in difficulty and facilitating their access to


social services and services;
Supporting and mobilizing the community in order to prevent
and solve situations of difficulty;

Beneficiaries of the community social assistance service


Community as a whole; People, families and social groups in
difficulty in the community:
- children and families: families with children at risk, families
with children with disabilities
-children left without parental care, orphan children, abused and
neglected children, children with disabilities and others; -
elderly persons: solitary persons, persons with disabilities,
persons suffering from serious diseases.
Purpose of the service: providing care at the home of solitary
persons, preventing institutionalization and maintaining them in
a favorable family and social environment.

2.Poverty and inequality


Poverty and inequality are concepts very closely related to each
other in that they refer to a situation where people do not have
the ability to fulfill all their needs and desires. While poverty
refers to a lack of funds in which people are just trying to
survive, inequality is a situation in which some members of
society have more resources and a greater ability to meet their
needs than others. The following article gives a clear picture of
each concept and compares the similarities and differences
between poverty and inequality.
What is poverty?
A person in poverty is a person who is just trying to survive.
People in poverty cannot even have the basic necessities of life,
including food, clothing and shelter. A person in poverty may be
homeless and may not have the education or exposure to work
towards a better future.

What is inequality?
Inequality is a situation where a part of the population has more
financial resources, more access to material goods and a better
financial capacity to purchase goods and services to meet their
needs compared to others.
