Release Notes

RD413 Firmware
Version 28 04/06/14
Bug fix:

 Once the maximum number of events was reached, it was intended to prevent accelerations
above the wake threshold from starting the event process to avoid wasting power.
Unfortunately this also prevented summaries from being recorded after that point.
o At download the files can be identified by having slots that exceed the alarm threshold.
To recover the Summaries and events up to the time of the last event; remove all power
(batteries, USB and external), repower via the USB and download the data again.

Version 27 27/09/13
Bug fix:

 In GPSDetect leave 4KHzTimer enabled - caused latter tests to fail – test mode only.
 Bug fix on 248 download to correct error created by downloading security log.
 Stop event acquisition taking place once event memory is full, prevent waste of power.
 Prevent overflow possibility in grms code.

Improvements

 Changes to address sizes to allow use of larger memory. (Special release only).
 With use of the SLABB RD401 systems can now be used with an HPT.
 Change to accelerometer temperature compensation, to improve accuracy at temperature
extremes.
 Improved RF communications, corrected failed downloads on high use systems.
o Base station discovery now randomised, to prevent overload of on base station of
coincident requests.
 Improved GPS power management
 PC software Command to request read of last GPS position will now initiate a new GPS search if
GPS is idle.

New Features

 HPT data in IButton download.

 Heartbeat message now indicates if unit is waiting for a delayed start, requires PC code
V11.0.3.0 or above. Not released at time of issuing this embedded code.
 Hardware configuration (RF, GPS, Tilt &Roll) is sent in every heartbeat, requires PC code
V11.0.3.0 or above. Not released at time of issuing this embedded code.
 New LED option for unit when STOPPED all LED's flash RED every 10 seconds.
 Make unit check for start every minute instead of every ten; unit now starts within a minutes of
start time instead of 10 minutes.
 For 208 & 208 update the frequency in the setup to the actually frequency used.
 Lease expiry time is set back to maximum on every acknowledged data packet.
 Include security log with downloaded journey data, requires PC code V11.0.3.0 or above. Not
released at time of issuing this embedded code.

Version 26 23/11/12
Bug fix:

 Setup Ibutton did not always correctly in V25, this was found during manufacture and none of
the units that failed were shipped. There is a small chance that this could occur on units
upgraded to V25.
 Fix bug on peak reset for 208.

Improvements

 Internal GPS, if 5 successive failures to obtain a fix, then the ephemeral data will be cleared.

Version 25 01/11/12
Bug fix:

 208 Current consumption

 One minute ticks on slots
 Fix bug that could leave eTrak message unsent until subsequent message.
 Fix bug where auto zero for slots was called too frequently.
 Slave to main processor communications error could lead to erroneous value in external
temperature and humidity or in HPT data.

Improvements

 Internal GPS: Clear ephemeral data when sending new setup, this will ease acquisition of first fix
GPS position.
 Internal GPS: Altitude added to event GPS data.
 RF Unit: Will attached to base station with strongest signal instead of first reply.
 RF Unit: Output power increased.
o Note: Requires unit to be retested by manufacturer, will not effect field upgrades to this
version.
New Features

 Support for Shocklog 278 model

 eTrak & HPT combination: HPT slot alarms generate eTrak alarm messages.

Version 24 02/04/12
Bug fix:

 Make RMS sampling run for 1 second, even with longer events. Settings could lead to excessive
current consumption if set for long events with a low wake threshold.
 IButton passwords could be incorrectly en/disabled at power on
 Changes to prevent RF locks ups (conflict between debugging information and normal running
conditions).
 Fix bug where slots can be miscalculated on full memory.
 Bug in power control of internal Tilt & Roll sensors, may lead to noise on T&R readings. May lead
to additional power consumption if T&R not enabled.
 Prevent main processor going to sleep during slave processor communications; could lead to
additional power consumption.

Improvements

 Modify wake code to prevent false interrupts at low wake/ high temperature.
 At power up calculate by memory search the positions of all memory area pointers. Previously
these values were stored in EEPROM which may not be valid at battery end of life.

New Features

 Allow USB communications to wake Shocklog from sleep; gives much more responsive interface.
 If USB power is present do not switch off GPS power; this will help with getting first fix.

Version 23 03/02/12
Special Customer Release:

 This release has changes to enable the eTrak and HPT to be used concurrently with the external
splitter box. This also requires the slave code to be updates to V0.9 (this cannot be done as a
field upgrade) and PC Code Version 10.2.2.0.
Version 22 01/12/11
Bug fix:

 In certain environmental conditions there are two issues that could arise, erroneous data in the
time slots coincident with the summary period, and false event data of frequencies less than
0.5Hz.

Version 21 02/11/11
Improvements

 Temperature calibration added for DC accelerometers to improve Internal Tilt & Roll accuracy
over temperature.

Version 20 01/09/11
Bug fix:

 IButton did not always function due to processor running at slower clock during some phases of
data transfer.
 An event could be missed if previous wake up was not an event and this event was only just
above the warn threshold and below the drop threshold.
 If power was removed the alarm count could be incorrect.
 Alarm and Warning counts greater than 256 were incorrectly reported in the status message,
the correct number would be downloaded.
 Show events number above 128 in IButton information.
 For IButton downloads Limit EventSummaries to 107, was 128 caused over run and corrupted
page 0 of the IButton memory.
 Slot alarms for Local Temperature/Dew Point were using internal temperature.
Improvements

 Optional RF communications.
o This is an enhancement of the existing RF option with full support in Version 10 of the
PC software.
 gRMS slot alarms added.

New Features

 Note: New features require Version 10 PC software.

 Optional Internal Tilt & Roll added.
o Includes support for slot alarms and eTrak alarms
 Optional Internal GPS added
o GPS position added to event and summary data.
o Requires external GPS antenna, can be local stubby or remote (up to 5m).
