INTRODUCTION

THE PROPOSAL FOR CONSTRUCTION OF AJARA-ITOHUN-EREKITI-IRAGBO-IRAGON-IKOGA ROAD,

IN BADAGRY LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

AJARA-ITOHUN-EREKITI-IRAGBO-IRAGON-IKOGA road located in Badagry L.G.A. Road start point is BADAGRY L.G.A.,

which is link to LAGOS-BADAGRY EXPRESS WAY.Along the road through AJARA community, ITOHUN community,

EREKITI community, IRAGBO community, and also through some filling stations , bus stops, schools, churches , farms,

hotels; and also through Ajara junction, Itohun junction, Erekiti road junction, Iragbo road junction, etc. Road end point is

IKOGA which links to IKOGA road. The road is substantially Parallel to the LAGOS-BADAGRY EXPRESS WAY, the

road length is around 14.5KM.

Along the road through four swamp and bush area, total length of the swamp is around 2800 meters. Along the road

also through 400meters bridge (completion in 2011 by CCECC ) , 900meters culverts & 180 meters bridges (under

construction) and 312meters bridges (if possible the design of the 312meters bridge can be changed to culvert and bridge to

reduce the cost), the remaining 12.7KM is road which is to be widen and to upgrade the existing rural dirt road to paved

road.

The Road is designed according to the requirements of the engineering geological conditions, the terrain, the existing

roads, rivers, buildings, the actual situation and environmental protection, the project status and role in the regional road

network along the route.

The Road is designed not only to pay attention to the road network to facilitate the coordination of present situation of

recent use, but also take into account the long-term planning (30 years) to create the necessary conditions.

The Road is designed also to pay attention to environmental protection, try to make the linear, topography and terrain

coordinated, and set possible structure reasonable, and avoid high deep filling as possible to reduce the impact on the

environment, also to reduce the project cost.

The subgrade drainage and drainage are designed, which combined the route, river and terrain elevation, on the basis of

full investigation along hydrology, irrigation and drainage system, based on comprehensive consideration, to set the

corresponding outfall drainage and necessary culverts.

The bridge is designed according to programs selection, according to traffic safety and road capacity, and also the

"safe, economical and suitable" principle, to meet the requirements of the road.

As the project’s geological conditions are poor, mostly are sand, silt soil, marshes, swamp, bush conditions, it is not

suitable for asphalt concrete surface layer, also in order to reduce cost, proposal road surface layer design is paved surface

layer.

The project is two-way two-lane, and the designed speed is 80km/h, roadbed width is 14.5m.
