PERFORMANCE NOTES

1. Though the work is scored with standard time signatures, there is no regular accentual
matrix of strong and weak beats as found in the metric system of Western art music: all
beats (pulses) have the same status.

2. Strict adherence to the metronome marks associated with the different tempo marks is required.

3. The piece is conceptualized for an acoustically active performance space. Silence, which plays
a crucial role in the work, does not imply absolute silence.
