What is Appreciative There are mountains of material available on management tools and frameworks but these are the ones

that work for me. These are the tools I use when the team is at the Design and Destiny part of the process
and they have gone through the Discovery, Dream phases which tend to be more conversational.

Frameworks and tools I come back to using this simple mechanism whenever a team has hit a road block or is a state of confusion.
It is great tool to bring a group from a state of anxiety to a state of action.

survey This is a simple framework for brainstorming. You start off with with a topic that you want to brainstorm
and every idea no matter what it is gets a green light. Once that process is completed the group goes back to
the list and starts to red light some of the ideas. Red lighting recognizes that it is a good idea but not a good
solution to this particular problem.

I think managers need simple tools to get the job done and adding complexity to this process in my opinion is a time
waster.

It still amazes me how many meetings I attend that do not have an agendas or minutes. I think they are a must and that
a meetings should not occur unless you have an agenda and a recording of what was decided and what actions are to be
taken.

These are the four tools that I use. Agenda, minutes, SOPPADA and a Roadmap.

I first heard of the SOPPADA method from Ken Haycock. If is a simple way to present a recommendation.
This simple process has revolutionized how decision are now made in our organization. I have attached a
copy of the template.

Road maps

I like to design road maps that look at the next 36 months. This is the event horizon that I can wrap my
head around. It helps me plan and understand the time and resources I am going to need to tackle any type
of issue. I also like to design 12 month road maps that plan for the year. These road maps a great way to
visually communicate and idea.
