Research Rationale

The main purpose of conducting this study is to identify the significance of the Mega

sporting events infrastructure development of the "Federation International Football Association

(FIFA)" World Cup that will be held in Qatar in the year 2022. Even though this study is going

to focus on the significance of the Mega sporting events infrastructure development in Qatar due

to the World Cup, it is good to understand that there are still negative effects of this particular

event. Currently, Qatar is very behind when it comes to developed stadiums or football in

general and therefore through this study we are going to understand all the mechanisms that

Qatar is required to develop in order to be able to hold the "Federation International Football

Association (FIFA)" World Cup in 2020. 

The Aims of The Research

The aim of this research is to find out the significance of the Mega sporting events

infrastructure development on hosting the "Federation International Football Association

(FIFA)" World Cup in Qatar in the year 2022.

Research Objectives

The main objective of this research if identifying the significance of the Mega sporting

events infrastructure development on hosting the "Federation International Football Association

(FIFA)" World Cup in Qatar in the year 2022. Below are five objectives that will help in guiding

to this research:

 To find out the importance of hosting the "Federation International Football Association

(FIFA)" World Cup on the development of transportation systems in Qatar.

 To find out the significance of hosting the "Federation International Football Association

(FIFA)" World Cup on the development of stadiums in Qatar in the year 2022.

 To determine the importance of hosting the "Federation International Football

Association (FIFA)" World Cup on development accommodation facilities to be used by

the tourist during the event in Qatar in the year 2022.

 To evaluate how hosting the "Federation International Football Association (FIFA)"

World Cup in Qatar will influence sports development in the future.

 To determine the significance of hosting the "Federation International Football

Association (FIFA)" World Cup on economic development in Qatar.

Research Questions

Based on the objectives that will be directing on this research, the following are five

questions of the research:

 What is the importance of hosting the "Federation International Football Association

(FIFA)" World Cup on the development of transportation systems in Qatar?

 What is the significance of hosting the "Federation International Football Association

(FIFA)" World Cup on the development of stadiums in Qatar in the year 2022?

 What is the significance of hosting the "Federation International Football Association

(FIFA)" World Cup on economic development in Qatar?

 What is the importance of hosting the "Federation International Football Association

(FIFA)" World Cup on development accommodation facilities to be used by the tourist

during the event in Qatar in the year 2022?

 How hosting the "Federation International Football Association (FIFA)" World Cup in

Qatar will influence sports development in the future?

Significance of the Research

This study will have a lot of benefits to the government of Qatar, especially the to the

government officials since they can use it to help them during the development as well as

preparedness on hosting the "Federation International Football Association (FIFA)" World Cup

in Qatar on the year 2022. This study will also help the government of Qatar when it comes to

preparing the budget on hosting the "Federation International Football Association (FIFA)"

World Cup in Qatar in the year 2022. Also, this study will help the members of the Mega

sporting events which host the "Federation International Football Association (FIFA)" World

Cup in Qatar on how effectively conduct the tournament. This study will be used by the

"Federation International Football Association (FIFA)" World Cup committee to arrange the

event in an appropriate manner. Finally, the study can also be useful to the students who might

conduct research.

CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW

Overview

Qatar will be the first Asian country to host the "Federation International Football

Association (FIFA)" World Cup. After the "Federation International Football Association

(FIFA)" World Cup, the country will gain improvements in its infrastructure1. Just as other

countries that have hosted the FIFA world cup before like Russia and Brazil, Qatar will have to

improve its infrastructure due to creation of many short-term job opportunities, training,

education as well as increasing the self-esteem to the people, increasing tourism, good

transportation systems especially during the construction of stadiums that holds World cup. 

Development of Transport Systems

Qatar will benefit from a good transport network because of hosting the "Federation

International Football Association (FIFA)" World Cup in the year 2022. Mega sporting events

will have around thirty roads in Qatar constructed before the year 2022. It has planned projects

for improving the roads in Qatar in order to ensure the connection between stadiums is efficient.

Some of the project's transport systems that will carry out are improving the links of the roads,

tunnels as well as the intersections2. This project will consume billions of dollars, money that

"Federation International Football Association (FIFA)" World Cup has already set aside

specifically for transport systems.

The country will have around thirty-five road schemes, which consist of nine hundred

kilometers of the mainline carriageway as well as around two hundred kilometers at grade and

many intersections. It is estimated that around nine hundred million dollars have been set aside

for improving the transport network across Qatar. Most of the spectators 2022 "Federation

International Football Association (FIFA)" World Cup will be using road transport as a way of

traveling from one stadium to another, and therefore improving the transport system has been

seen as a major concern of improvement in Qatar before the event. However, this will leave

Qatar with a good transport system after the 2022 "Federation International Football Association

(FIFA)" World Cup. Also, the government of Qatar will benefit in big part since money set for

transport systems will be saved or used through other developments.

Modern Stadiums Developments

Construction of modern stadiums seems to be the important aspect of hosting the 2022

"Federation International Football Association (FIFA)" World Cup in Qatar. Currently, there is

an ongoing process of building new stadiums and renovation of stadiums in Qatar. Qatar will

benefit from all these stadiums after hosting the World Cup, something that is going to improve

its local football tournaments3. This event has created job opportunities for the many citizens of

Qatar. Qatar is a developing country currently, and through the construction of stadiums, the

development will have improved in a large sector. 

Since 2022 "Federation International Football Association (FIFA)" World Cup in Qatar

will host thirty-two teams, the Mega sporting event has planned to construct around twelve new

stadiums in Qatar4. Qatar will keep the record of being the first Asian country of hosting the

"Federation International Football Association (FIFA)" World Cup. Therefore, the 2022 World

Cup mega event in Qatar is extremely significant to Qatar, a country which has a good passion

for football as well as a country that invests a lot in the game. After the World Cup, Qatar will

become a more investing country in football due to the construction of new stadiums that will

attract spectators.

Economic Development

The government of Qatar has facilitated all the financial requirements of the world cup in

2022. The Mega sporting event committee has involved in the process and is also taking an

interest in the sustainability of economy and finance. With the 'Qatar national vision, 2030'

implantation of the economic policies will be taken seriously by the country. Before the

declaration of FIFA, Qatar had a GDP growth of around 55%, with an employment rate of 5%.

The unemployment rate was seen to be decreased at a rate of 0.5%. Presently, the economic

policy of Qatar is focusing on the domestic and foreign investments made for the up-gradation of

the oil and gas sector5. On the other hand, the implications rising due to the financial crisis is

valid is most of the Asian countries.

The oil and gas reserves are not expected to run out in recent times. During the

preparations of world cup 2022, the revenue earned from the oil sector is believed to support

resource management. After the investments from foreign bodies during the world cup 2022, the

economy of Qatar is predicted to rise from its present status. It will come up as a wider economy

amidst the lands of the Middle East and North East. Economic development lies with the

dimensions of human development, economic development, social development, and

environmental development. Therefore, the economy of Qatar will develop after hosting the

"Federation International Football Association (FIFA)" World Cup in the year 2022. 

Development of Accommodation Facilities

The research that we have done shows that it is estimated that around two hundred

thousand people will attend the 2022 FIFA world cup event in Qatar. Qatar is expecting to have

more foreigners who will come as spectators to support their teams. In accordance with this, the

Mega sporting event has encouraged the government of Qatar to ensure that they provide

adequate accommodation facilities to all these people6. Construction of houses is an ongoing

event in Qatar, which is built near the stadiums. Therefore, the 2022 FIFA world cup event will

have developed its accommodation facilities, which will encourage and improve the tourism

sector.

Influence of Sports Development in Future

The 2022 FIFA world cup will a huge impact on the football of Qatar in the future. Qatar

football association will be developed, and after the world cup, Qatar will be seen as a good

place of sports hosting even more events in the future. Construction of new stadiums will

contribute towards the investments made by the country, and the country will now be able to host

more events in the future. Even though World Cup 2022 is considered to be a complex and

difficult project to be dealt with by the country, it influences the development of the sport in the

future7. The Qatar Football Association was previously affected by some challenges, but after

hosting the 2022 FIFA world cup, the association can be able to take some further steps due to

the developments left by the event
