Dear Prospective Students,

We are very much pleased in greeting all of you for a happy and successful academic life
through the online education of The Global Open University. Besides welcoming you
personally we wish to assure you of our fullest cooperation for offering different courses
of study through the online education mode of The Open University.

The Global Open University has initiated various steps for improving the quality of
education and the methodology of imparting need based open distance, online and
virtual education for catering to the growing needs of the twenty first century and the
third millennium.

Online education mode is one of the most effective modes of imparting instruction to
the students both in the developing as well as in the developed countries of the world. It
is in this context that The Global Open University has introduced Bachelor’s, Master’s and
Doctoral Degree Programmes through online education for the first time in India with a
view to enabling all those who are not able to attend the regular class rooms for
acquiring higher as well as additional qualification.

The details of different vocational and job oriented courses are given in the following
pages for the benefit of the students interested in acquiring necessary skills to become
employable in the long run. The idea behind offering these employment centric
programmes is to also stress on self-employment so that our country may have more
number of job givers rather than job seekers by acquiring entrepreneurial leadership as
well as managerial competence.

he Global Open University, Nagaland has been
established by an Act of State Legislature under
"The Global Open University Act 2006" (Act 3
of 2006) by the Government of Nagaland. After
receiving the assent from the His Excellency, Governor
of Nagaland, the establishment of the university was
notified in Government Gazette vide notification
number Law/Act-10/2006 on dated 18th September
2006. The Distance Education Council, New Delhi has
recognised the Global Open University, Nagaland vide
letter DEC/GOU/NGL/Recog/2008/8685 dated 2nd June
2008. The Global Open University, Nagaland is
empowered to award degree as specified under section
22 of the UGC Act, 1956 vide UGC Letter No. 4-
2/2007 (CPP-1) dated 26th February 2008. His
Excellency, Governor of Nagaland, is Chancellor of the
University. The Global Open University, Nagaland is
administered by a Governing Council. The Council has
distinguished dignitaries among its members having
representatives of Nagaland Government, an
educationist of repute and an academician nominated
by Pro-Chancellor. The Academic Council is responsible
for all academic matters.
The Global Open University, Nagaland has interim
headquarters at Dimapur (Nagaland). The University
Campus has well-equipped physical and academic
infrastructure with workshop, laboratories, computer lab
and library. The Act of The Global Open University,
Nagaland permits the university to offer programmes
through online and distance education mode across the

has become a pioneer in India by introducing Technology

The Government of Nagaland have allotted the
Government buildings and youth hostels for conducting
Tourism, Hotel Management, Catering Technology and
other job oriented courses for the benefit of young boys
and girls from Nagaland. The Government of Nagaland has
been approached for allowing the civil hospitals and animal
husbandry campus to be used by “The Global Open
University, Nagaland” for conducting Theory and Practical
classes of UG, PG and other research programmes.
As of now “The Global Open University, Nagaland” have
30 Departments for conducting different programmes
including Doctoral, Master's, Bachelor's, Diploma and Post
Graduate Diploma Programmes in the field of IT,

ADMISSION
The goal of the University is to select students whose
academic background, work experience, leadership abilities,
communication skills meet the demands of the Professional
Degree Programs. These individuals must be able to benefit

BASIC ELIGIBILITY
The Basic eligibility for Admission to M.Phil., M. Tech. & M.S.
Course is Post Graduate Degree. Post Graduate Degree
means a candidate who has successfully completed a 2 year
University Degree program.
The Basic eligibility for Admission to PG Course is Bachelor
Degree. Bachelor Degree means a candidate who has
successfully completed a 3 year University Degree Program.
Note: Students having 2 years Bachelor Degree has to do a
bridge course.

The Technology Enabled Learning(TeL) programs require a
reliable internet connection. ADSL or Broadband connections
are recommended. Study with a dial up connection is
possible but a minimum modem speed of 56K is required. As
the platform used in ONLINE CAMPUS taught modules
utilizes the windows operating system all students must be
able to fully utilize Microsoft products.
Hardware and Software requirements for PCs are:

FOREIGN STUDENTS
All foreign students seeking admission to the Technology
Enabled Learning(TeL) Courses of TGOU must join a regular
course of a recognized University in India. Alternatively, they
should either be working in India or should be dependents of
a person working in India. The course under TGOU Technology
Enabled Learning(TeL), can be undertaken simultaneously with
the regular course mentioned above. No eligibility certificate
will be issued to a student who comes to India only to join
TGOU Technology Enabled Learning(TeL) Courses.
REJECTED APPLICATIONS
If the applicants do not satisfy the eligibility criteria, the
applications are returned to them along with all enclosures
and the fee paid after deducting Rs. 1000. Such students
are, however, permitted to apply again after they satisfy the
eligibility criteria. The students whose applications have been
rejected may appeal to the University if they wish to have a
review of their applications.
TRANSFER CREDITS AND WAIVERS
Students are given appropriate transfer credits under a
system of advance standing reading to waivers at the time of
enrolment, based on past academic records.

The National Scholarship Program (NSP) is an academic
Scholarship Competition for recognition and College
Scholarship administered by APEX Foundation, a Non
Governmental Organisation. APEX Foundation conducts two
annual competitions for recognition and Scholarships: The
National Scholarship Program is open to all students who
meet entry requirements. Each year a total of approximately

Apex Foundation (APEX) is the Exclusive Learning Resource Provider for The Global Open University, Nagaland. In this role,
APEX has been engaged in promoting and supporting online education initiatives. APEX provides strong logistic, distributive,
