Reporter, July 2008 to May 2009
I covered the Legislature, the Governor’s Office, the Public School System and the utilities
corporation for the daily paper. I wrote extensively on the island's ongoing power crisis and the
Northern Marianas' transition to federal immigration and labor laws. I traveled to Samoa to cover
a climate change roundtable and to China to report on tourism attractions.

Divided Families | Arizona State University


Reporter, August 2007 to December 2007
I traveled to the Mexico border, Guadalajara and Veracruz to report and write two in-depth pieces
on families divided by the border. The Howard G. Buffet Foundation funded the project, which
was awarded the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award in the college print category.

I edited and planned content for the daily paper. I managed a staff of approximately 50 students.
The State Press prints Monday through Friday with a circulation of 18,000.
