Prayer Diary 26 December - 2 January 2011

Sunday/Monday: Remembering Christmas…

Adoration Focus:
Sun: Today we join in the angels’ song. Glory to God in the highest!
Mon: The shepherd returned full of praise. Join with the shepherds who have seen the Christ child and praise God!
Confession: Lord we confess our need for a Christmas of the heart. By your grace may our heart be the birthplace of your life
and love. What stops you from loving with all your heart, soul, mind and strength? Reflect on your heart this week. Then
consciously picture the Christ being born within your heart. Allow his love to grow there.
The Word: During these two days read: Sun: Luke 1:26-38 and Mon: Luke 2:1-7
Seeking the Kingdom:
Shared Focus: Let the love of Christmas fill you to overflowing. Sense God’s love for you and for the world. Now look
at God’s world through those eyes of love: Today look at your own life. How is that love leading you to pray?
Personal prayers: (Use this section to list people you need to pray for or situations of personal concern that you need
to bring before God in prayer)

Dedication: May the joy of Christmas fill our hearts with a new and deeper sense of your love for us and for your
world that we may reflect your love by serving those in need… (William Bright)

Preparing for the new year. Readings to reflect on as we look at a new year before us
Ecclesiastes 3:1-13: God has ordered our lives and our skills in many ways, all of them appropriate in their season
and all of them intended as a source of joy.
Psalm 8: A psalm of wonder and joy, seeing the world with new eyes and awe.
Revelation 21:1-6a. New heaven, new earth, new Jerusalem, new world order -- all things new because of the
renewal of all things in Jesus Christ.
Matthew 25:31-46. Jesus establishes the priorities and practices of faithful discipleship in his "new world order,"
the reign of God -- feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, housing the homeless, welcoming the stranger,
refreshing the thirsty, and visiting the sick and imprisoned.
