Hell, Continued
2 Thess. 1:8-9- in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of

of His power.

Rev. 20:10- The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet
are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Rev. 21:8- But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall
have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
Judgment
Job 21:30- For the wicked are reserved for the day of doom; they shall be brought out on the day of wrath.

Rev. 22:12-And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.
Repentance, Continued
Is. 55:6-7- Seek the LORD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the
unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will
abundantly pardon.
Ezek. 18:21-23- But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is
lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remem-
bered against him; because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live. Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked
sh ould die?‖ says the L ord G O D , ―and n ot th at he sho uld turn fro m his w ays an d live?
Ezek. 18:30-32- Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, says the Lord GOD. Repent,
and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. Cast away from you all the transgressions which
you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have
no pleasure in the death of one who dies, says the Lord GOD. Therefore turn and live!
Ezek. 33:14-16- A gain, w hen I say to the w icked, ‗Y o u sh all su rely d ie,‘ if he tu rns fro m his sin an d does w h at is law ful and
right, if the wicked restores the pledge, gives back what he has stolen, and walks in the statutes of life without committing

Ezek. 33:19- But when the wicked turns from his wickedness and does what is lawful and right, he shall live because of it.

of the living and the dead.

Heb. 9:27- And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.
1 Pet. 4:5- They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
2 Pet. 2:9- Then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for
the day of judgment.
Rev. 20:11-15- Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away.

Repentance
Psalm 34:18- The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.
Psalm 51:17- The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart— these, O God, You will not despise.
Prov. 28:13- He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.
2 Pet. 3:9- The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing
that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
Heb. 6:1- Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again
the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God.

Who did Jesus appear to first– the women or His disciples? Matthew and Mark list the women first (Matt. 28:9, Mk. 16:9),
but Paul says He appeared to Peter first (1 Cor. 15:5).
Jesus appeared first to the women, then to Peter. Paul was not giving a complete list, but he was giving an important witness

There is no reason to assume that any of these say ALL that the sign said. It is simple to harmonize the accounts: the sign
likely said ―T his is Jesus o f N azareth the K in g o f the Jew s.‖
When Saul saw Jesus on the Road to Damascus, did the men with him hear the voice, or not? Acts 9:7 says they heard the
voice, while Acts 22:9 says they did not hear the voice.
The tenses of the Greek word used for hear in those two accounts clears up any misunderstanding. We understand then that in
Acts 9:7 the men heard the voice, but from Acts 22:9 we learn that they did not understand what was said.
How many angels were at the tomb– one or two? Matthew and Mark mention one, while Luke and John say two.
It is important to notice that nowhere do Matthew and Mark say that there was only one angel— they merely mention only
one. T his d oesn ‘t m ean there could not be tw o. B esides th is, the an gels in L uke are described as bein g in side the to m b,
whereas the ones in Matthew and Mark are outside. It is possible that when the women approached the tomb there was one
angel outside (as Matthew and Mark record) and one inside, and when they entered the tomb the one outside joined the angel
inside, to fit L uke‘s reco rd.

He certainly did. He died spiritually. The moment he sinned, he became "dead in trespasses and sins" (Ephesians 2:1). Eze-
kiel 18:4 says, "The soul that sins, it shall die." It is because we are born spiritually dead that Jesus came to give us spi ritual
life (John 5:40; 10:10; 14:6; etc.).

"Repent" means "to have a change of mind." When the Bible tells sinners to repent, it means to change their direction, to turn
fro m their sins. G o d ‘s "repentin g" is w hen H e turns aw ay fro m H is fierce an ger to w ard sin ners. H e w arns m en of the co nse-
quences of their disobedience. If they repent (turn from their sins), He will "repent" by not pouring out His promised wrath on
them. For instance, Jonah 3:8,9 says, "Let them turn every one from his evil way...Who can tell if God will turn and repent,
and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?" (See also Jeremiah 18:8.)
God said He would blot out all remembrance of Amalek. The Bible itself disproves this statement by mentioning Amalek to
this day.
In Exodus 17:14, God told Moses to "write this for a memorial in a book..." Moses did that and God preserved the Book for
5,000 years, so skeptics would know that God keeps every promise He makes. The phrase "I will utterly put out of the re-
membrance of Amalek from under heaven" means that he will blot them out as a nation from the earth. There are no descen-
dants of the Amalekites on the earth. They don't exist.
The Bible calls the hare a cud-chewing animal. As any veterinarian could tell you, this statement is false.
This statement is made in Leviticus 11:6, where the Hebrew literally means "raises up what has been swallowed." The rabbit
does re-eat partially digested fecal pellets that come from a special pouch called the caecum. Bacteria in these pellets enrich
the diet and provide nutrients to aid digestion. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica: "Some lagomorphs [rabbits and
hares] are capable of re-ingesting moist and nutritionally rich fecal pellets, a practice considered comparable to cud-chewing
in ruminants ...The upper tooth rows are more widely separated than the lower rows, and chewing is done with a transverse
movement."

The Priory of Sion
The Da Vinci Code lists as fact in the preface to the book that the Priory of Sion was "a European society founded in 1099, a
rea l o rg a n iza tion ‖ (p g . 1 ). In reality, this organization never existed. Pierre Plantard started the imaginary group in 1953; he
later testified under oath that it had never truly existed and that the documents he had regarding the group were a hoax.
Women and Christianity
The Da Vinci Code claims that the Catholic Church burned five million women at the stake from the years 1400 to 1800.
Actually, thirty to fifty thousand men and women were burned at the stake during these years, often for religious reasons.
Midwives were not especially targeted, as The Da Vinci Code claims. While this number in itself is large, it does not begin to
compare to the number of people Hitler and Stalin killed.
In reality, Christianity has elevated women wherever it has been practiced. In countries such as China and India, where babies
w ere killed fo r bein g fem ale, girls‘ feet w ere b ou n d, and girls w ere fo rced to beco m e tem ple p ro stitutes, the in fluen ce o f
Christian missionaries such as Gladys Aylward and Amy Carmichael helped to end some of these practices. Ironically, even
the Gospel of Thomas, one of the Gnostic Gospels favored by The Da Vinci Code, states, ―S im o n P eter said to them , 'L et
Mary leave us, for women are not worthy of life.' Jesus said, 'I myself shall lead her in order to make her male, so that she too
may become a living spirit resembling you males. For every woman who will make herself male will enter the kingdom of
heaven.' (Saying 114; The Nag Hammadi Library, p. 138). Compare this with the New Testament:

Key Points On Hinduism
(Concept Of God)- There are many gods in Hinduism, but the chief god is Brahman, an impersonal, universal soul. Hinduism
is also pantheistic, seeing the universe as being god and god being the universe. There are three main gods: Brahma (the
Creator), Vishnu (the Preserver), and Shiva (the Destroyer). Under these gods legions of gods and demons are worshipped.
(Source of Written Revelation)- The Sutras, the Vedas, and the Upanishads. (These books contradict each other. )
(Jesus Christ)- Some Hindus believe that Jesus originated from Krishna, born 14 centuries before Christ.
(Sin)- Hindus believe that sin is an illusion.
(Salvation)- Salvation is achieved when man breaks away from the cycle of reincarnation and is absorbed into Brahman. The
state of nothingness and peace that results is called Nirvana. This happens when the Hindu pursues salvation by knowledge,
by devotion, and by works. Yoga is an attempt to reach oneness with their god through meditation. Hindus are Hindu by
birth, not choice. An outsider can only become Hindu through reincarnation into a Hindu family.
(Afterlife)- Hindus believe in reincarnation, called Samsara, which every living thing goes through until it reaches oneness
with Brahman or Nirvana.

and is not gracious.

The Trinity at Work in Redemption: In these passages we see references to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit together,
showing that they are distinct persons, not just successive forms of God. The mystery of the Trinity is that one God has
revealed Himself as three Persons. Trinitarian Christians do not worship three gods, but one God, revealed in three Persons.

Requirements for Salvation:
Luke 23:39-42– The thief on the cross was saved, yet never baptized.
Acts 10:44-48– Gentile believers received the Holy Spirit and even spoke in tongues BEFORE being baptized. Since one can
not have the Holy Spirit unless he is saved (Rom. 8:9), these believers were obviously saved before they were baptized.
Eph. 2:8-9– We are saved by grace through faith. While every believer should be baptized, it is important that we not place
our trust in baptism for salvation.
Acts 16:13-15, 30-34– Accounts of people being saved, yet no mention of them speaking in tongues. If this is the very
evidence of salvation itself, it should be mentioned— and yet only twice in Scripture (Acts 10, 19) do we see people speaking
in tongues at the same time that they are saved! In every other account in Scripture, people either speak in tongues some time
after they are saved, or tongues are not mentioned at all. If this is so vital that salvation depends on it, why does Scripture not
mention it more? NOTE: do not get into an argument over whether or not tongues are valid for today. That is an issue that
genuine believers disagree on; the problem with the Oneness position is that it requires tongues as evidence for salvation.
Key Points On Roman Catholicism
(Concept of God)- Generally the same as soundly saved believers.
(Source of Written Revelation)- The Douay-Rheims version of the Bible, which includes the Apocryphal books. However,
they also believe that the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) is their authority. Ultimately, their authority comes from Scripture,
Tradition and the pope.
(Jesus Christ)- The doctrines of purgatory, Mary as co-redemptrix, and the sacraments deny the sufficiency of the blood of
Christ to cleanse from all sin.
(Sin)- St. Augustine said that it is a word, deed or desire that is contrary to the eternal Law of God.
(Repentance)- Inclu ded is n ot only rem o rse for sin and tu rnin g fro m it, b ut also ―satisfaction‖. S atisfactio n can o nly be given
in a con fessio n al w hen the p riest says, ―I absolve thee.‖
(Faith)- True faith can only come through the RCC, according to the Vatican.
(Salvation)- Pope John Paul II said that anyone who lives a just life can be saved, even if he is not RC. (Dallas Morning
News, Dec. 9, 2000) Salvation is mediated through the sacraments (Baptism, Confession, Holy Eucharist, Confirmation,
Holy Orders, Matrimony, Extreme Unction).
(Afterlife)- Most people go to Purgatory when they die, where they atone for venial sins. The only person who goes to
heaven is the o ne w ho lo ves G o d perfectly at the tim e of death. T he peo ple w h o go to hell are tho se w h o do n ‘t love G o d at
all.

Prov. 30:5-6- A stern warning not to add to the Word of God
Mk. 7:8- Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for neglecting the Word of God for the sake of the commandments of men. Cf. Mt. 15:6
Rom. 5:8-9- We are justified by the blood of Christ alone and saved from wrath to come.
Rom. 5:10-11– The doctrine of purgatory does not line up with these verses, seeing that we have been fully reconciled with
God.
