This is with reference to the representation received from Hon’ble M.P. (LS)
Shri K.Subbarayan, Tiruppur regarding construction of mini flyover at Km 74/800,
Km 79/400, Km 80/800 & Km 89/100 of Kumarapalayam to Chengapalli section of
NH-544 (Old NH-47) vide reference 1st cited.
In this regard, the following report is submitted:
I. Km 74/800 flyover in Perundurai – Kanchikoil – Kavundampadi cross road:
Km 79/400 flyover in Perundurai – Pethapalayam – Kavudampadi cross
road3

1. The Kanchikoil junction is at Km 78/400 of NH-544. MDR is crossing at this

location.
2. Pethampalayam junction is at Km 79/400 of NH-544 i.e. 1 Km from Kanchikoil
junction.
3. Representation from VIP, District Administration and Publics are being received
for construction of VUP at Kanchikoil junction.
4. The joint inspection has been carried out by NHAI, IE and Concessionaire for
providing road safety measures.
5. One VUP at Km 78/400 and service road up to Pethampalayam junction at Km
79/400 may be considered for ensuring the safety of road users.
6. The estimate is under preparation, the work will carried out on approval of
Competent Authority.
Km 80/800 flyover in Perundurai – Thuduppathi – Makkinam Kombai cross
road
 1. Detailed inspection was also made on above location by NHAI, Concessionaire &
IE. In regard to VUP at Km 80/600 can be accommodated with Service roads on
BHS ( from Pethampalayam junction Km 79/400 to Km 81/600) including existing
VUP at Km 81/392, it is informed that the estimate is under preparation. After
submission of above detailed estimates by IE, the proposal will be submitted for
approval of Competent Authority.
Km 89/100 flyover in Kolathupalayam – Vijayamangalam cross road
1. The above mentioned location at Vijayamangalam junction @ Km 89/100 there is
no Junction / cross road.
2. The above location is existing of Vijayamangalam By-pass (from Km 88/900 to
Km 91/180) VUP at Km 90/520 (Provided for state road of Tiruppur –
Viajayamangalam) with service roads on BHS.
3. The existing Toll Plaza at Km 88/300 with approaches up to 88/900 (i.e. up to
start of Vijayamangalam bypass).
4. Mini-flyover at Km 89/900 is not feasible for the structure due to 90/520 VUP
approaches up to Km 89/900 and New Tiruppur Development Corp. Ltd’s
(NTDCL) water supply line (1.2m Dia) also existing along the road..
5. The proposal for construction of BT service roads from Km 88/900 to Km 91/180
on BHS to accommodate the traffic and public safety.
II. Widening of Salem to Cengapalli stretch of NH-544 section:
1. The DPR for widening of the Salem – Kumarapalayam - Chengapalli section
from Km 0/000 to Km 102/035 of NH-544 (Old NH-47) from existing 4-lane to
6-lane is under progress.
