Power and Politics

In the article, the power of elite mills bases his concepts on the domination and power

among those in the governance. During the cold war centralization of authority and

bureaucratization. According to the mills, the power elite referred to diverse interests to control

the social factors in the society such as the organizations, army, and politics. The elites

controlled the important institutions that were present in society (Cassel, 2017). They controlled

the schools, the churches, and families by outlining the rules and the regulations to be followed.

The citizens had no opinion rather than to accept what the elite had agreed upon since they

possessed power and authority. Technological rationality was very common in society during the

days when the military had power.

The concept of intersectionality as used by Jessica meant the presence of many and

overlapping means of oppression that are diverse for different individuals. The intersectionality

results in social barriers. Oppression against minority groups such as women is very common in

societies. Marxist conquers that people can experience diverse forms of oppression at the same

time. However, each individual will have a special set of social obstructions. Marxist further

argues that no form of discrimination can be comprehended or stunned in isolation (Tsingou,

2014). The fifth against discrimination and exploitation should include all the individuals who

are discriminated against. Marxists are against prejudiced habits and attitudes and propose that

these segregate people inhibiting the unity of the employed. Intersectionality and Marxism are

sister disciplines.

Freeland is much opinionated that capitalism is the best strategy for prosperity. She does

not support Marxism. The worst thing about Freeland's perception is that capitalism does not

support any form of socialism. According to the article by Mills, the elites use their power to

oppress the minority who have no power. Oppression of the minority should seize since it leads

to segregation and division of society (Freeland, 2011). Oppression of many individuals can only

stop if the affected group stands and condemns oppression.

Brenner denotes that the oppression of women due to their gender has also ‘’political

impasse.'' Irrespective of the huge economic, political and social change over a century, women

have experienced deteriorating circumstances (Brenner, 2000). They have to persevere the male

chauvinism due to their low status in the community. Violence against the rights of women is

very prevalent in society. The male chauvinism does not only occur at a family level but also in

social political and economic life. Many women are living in dire poverty as a result of

occupation segregation. The rights of women and are affirmative action are endangered.
