A01_Ch01: The Peopling of the World

Purpose: Along with class lessons and activities, this assignment will help us address this
essential question: Where did early human beings originate and what were some of their
technological and artistic achievements?

INTERACTION WITH ENVIRONMENT
As early humans spread throughout the world, they adapted to each environment they
encountered. As time progressed, they learned to use natural resources.

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
The earliest peoples came up with new ideas and inventions in order to survive. As settlements
started and expanded, new technologies developed to control the environment.

ECONOMICS
Pre- humans, and their modern human descendants, hunted animals and gathered wild plant
foods for thousands of years. Then, about 10,000 years ago, they learned to tame animals and
plant crops. Gradually, more complex economies would develop.
