Sense organs are specialized organs that help to perceive the world around
us. They are an integral part of our lives and it is the only way that enables
us to perceive the environment.

We have five sense organs, namely:

 Eyes
 Ears
 Nose
 Tongue
 Skin

Eyes are the visual sensory organ in our body. The main parts of the eye that
help vision are membranes and transparent mediums.

Sclera

The sclera, or white part of the eye, protects the

eyeball.
It is very resistant elastic membrane and the
anterior part of the sclera is transparent in the
center and it is called cornea.

The Conjunctiva is a thin layer covering the cornea

as well as the internal part of the eye.
The choroid is the dark intermediate pigmented
membrane. In the front side of this layer, we find the Iris,
which is a colored disc.
Function:
To supply blood to the rest of the eye.
It functions as a dark chamber since it absorbs light
rays.

The retina is a membrane which comes from the

ramification of the optic nerve and covers the
internal part of the choroid.
Function:
It captures light and carries them to the optic
nerve.
