SYLLABUS
Course Description: This course deals with the fundamentals of economic principle as they apply with the
tourism industry and explores the impacts of tourism on regional, national and
international economics. Applications of economic analysis to the segments of tourism
industry: its pricing, economic impact and sustainability but not limited to, estimation
and prediction of demand and supply, forecasting tourism demand and supply, economic
impacts of tourism resources, provision, application of conversion study techniques, and
use of economic analysis in management, marketing, and policy decisions.
COURSE OUTCOME
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the following topics:
(a) Using prior knowledge in understanding and integrating various concepts/examples relating to different
facets of economics of tourism that will discuss throughout the semester.
(b) Appreciating and learning from different ways of viewing of Economic Tourism Industry.
(c) Relating text-book concepts / class discussions with real-life events
(d) Engaging in critical thinking and expressing views and point-counterpoints (verbal and written) with
clarity.
(e) Working on assignments individually and in groups pertaining to the Economics of Tourism.
