Frank Bonifas of Coldwater held a book signing at Confetti Salon in Coldwater on
December 23. His book is titled FU-FU-FU FRANK!, a reference to his propensity to
curse due to Tourette Syndrome, which he has battled since second grade.
The salon used the book signing to raise money for Tourette Syndrome Foundation of
Ohio. Stylists kept busy with $5 haircuts, with proceeds going to the foundation.
Several friends and neighbors of Bonifas purchased books and stood in line to have him

reform our immigration laws.
These moral principles are
founded on the inherent, God-
given dignity of the human
person. We have supported
rallies, marches, various
educational programs and
the U.S. bishops’ advocacy
campaign.
Yet for many Catholics,
especially those who may not deal
with immigrants on a daily basis
or come into regular contact with
our federal immigration system,
there may be many legitimate
questions about the church’s
passion around this issue. Why
is the church spending so much
energy trying to revamp our
nation’s immigration system?
Why are we not simply asking
that our government do a better
job enforcing the system that
we already have? Does the
church support open borders and
lawlessness?
In response, I hope that I can
offer some clarification about the
church’s teaching and position
on this issue. In addition, I pray
that these reflections offer you
some insights for your own
grappling with this difficult and
often controversial issue.
One of the fundamental
principles behind any moral
immigration system is that
nations have the right to protect
their own borders. Governments
have a duty to achieve the
common good of the citizens
whom they represent. And, in
turn, residents of any land have a
duty to respect the rule of law. To
that end, the U.S. bishops want

parliamentary procedure
team placed 2nd in the
Sub-District contest held
at marion local high
School and 4th in the
District contest held at St.
marys high School. the
Sub-District competition
included four other area
FFA chapters, which were
coldwater, new Bremen,
marion local, and St.
henry. the parliamentary
procedure team had to
demonstrate their ability
to participate effectively
in a business meeting
using proper parliamentary

he was born may 26, 1909, in Jefferson township,
Adams county, indiana, to elbridge and Stella (houser)

he was married July 18, 1932, to Wilma Alt, and she
preceded him in death on november 27, 1996.
he is survived by three sons and spouses, Dallas and
marie Butcher, Fernandino, Florida, Jack and lois Butcher,
Fort Wayne, indiana, and Jim and Donnetta Butcher,
Dayton, ohio; two daughters and spouses, Sheryl and Jerry
clay, mendon, and Debra and mike Schumm, rockford;
twelve grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren, and
five great-great grandchildren.
he was preceded in death by three brothers, clell, Paul
and Walter Butcher; three sisters, leota Bebout, Jessie
Wendel, and ruth reef; and one grandchild.
he was a press man at the former rockford Press,
rockford, and at the Decatur casting company, Decatur.
he was a member of St. Paul’s lutheran church, liberty
twp., and had lived in rockford since 1945.
Services were held December 29, at St. Paul’s lutheran
church, liberty twp., rockford, with Pastor randall
Swanson officiating. Burial followed in St. Paul’s

She was born June 1, 1990, in Darmstadt, Germany, to
James and Janice (Muter) Curry. Her fiancee was Bradley

She is survived by a daughter, Ava m. curry, celina; a
brother and spouse, Aaron and mindy curry, chapmanville,
West Virginia; a brother, Adam curry, celina; a sister,
Amy curry, celina; and a grandmother, Blanche muter,

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jay and
elizabeth curry and grandfather Glenn muter.
She was a 2007 graduate of celina high School.
