Marriage is necessarily the basis of social foundation from which important legal rights and
obligations emerge. In ancient times, marriage was considered to be decided by the God and
divinity was associated with it. It is considered to be a sacred social institution but the concept of
marriage has continuously evolved with time with the ever changing society and human
psychology. The upcoming generations are considering relationships ever more liberally and
with more freedom. One of such concept is of live in relationship which has been adopted by
numerous couples around the world. The relationship where couples cohabit with each other
without any legal obligations towards each other is known as live in relationship. This is the
relationship with the nature of marriage but unlike marriage. This concept has slowly shown its
footsteps in India as well. However this type of relationship in India is often seen as taboo and
with sin. Although the legal status of live in relationship in India is still unclear, the supreme
