SANTA CRUZ I Hydroelectric Power Plant H21

Description: Description: The plant will have an installed Capacity of 5.9 MW and a yearly average generation of 35.8 GWh. It is located in the north
east of Lima, basin of Blanco River (Santa Cruz), in the district of Colcas, Province of Caraz, Department of Ancash, Peru.

Current Status: Projects Benefits:

Earliest project start date: June 2007.
Operation start date: February 2009.
Project lifetime: 40 years.
Current Status: EIA was approved by the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
Concession and permission granted. PDD was registered at the EB. Pro-
ject obtained the National Letter of Approval from peruvian DNA.
Estimated Annual Emission Reductions (tCO2/year):
An average of approximately 18,150 tCO2-equivalent.
Project Participant and Financing
Total project cost: UD$ 7,500,000
Number of direct and indirect jobs generated:
150 jobs during construction and 6 permanent jobs in the operation
phase to the local people.
Sustainable development contribution: It displaces expensive generation
by fossil fuel while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
It supports local development by providing electricity and direct inves-
tment.
It purifies and cleans the water for irrigation.
It contributes to Peru’s fiscal account through the payment of taxes.

Rehabilitation of the CALLAHUANCA Hydroelectric Power Station H22

Description: The project consists of improving the hydroelectric use of the Santa Eulalia River, increasing the installed capacity of Callahuanca power
station in 7.5 MW. Currently the plant has a total installed capacity of 72.7 MW. This refurbishment will increase the plant’s capacity up to 82.5 MW.
It is located in the department of Lima, province of Huarochiri.
