Exercise1: (5points)
We want to measure the mass of the water contained in a glass.

We perform twice the weighing represented in the adjacent figure:

1) What is the mass of the empty glass?(0.5pt)
2) What is the mass of the glass containing the liquid?(0.5pt)
3) What is the mass of the liquid contained in the glass?(1pt)
4) Calculate the density of the liquid in g/cm³ and kg/m³
knowing that its volume is 0.16dm³. (1.5pts)
5) Calculate the relative density of the liquid.
Density of water = 1g/cm³ (1.5pts)

Exercise2: (2.5points)
a)

b) Give the properties of each state. (1.5pts)

Exercise3: (4points)
A metallic cube of edge 10 cm has a mass of 2700g. Substance Density (g/cm3)
Iron 7.8
a.) Calculate the volume of the cube in cm3and m3. (1.5pts)
Copper 8.9
b.) Calculate the density of the substance from which the Aluminum 2.7 cube is
made. (1.5pts)

c.) From what substance is the cube made? Why? (1pt)

Exercise4: (3.5points)
Consider a syringe that is filled with air; close its mouth and push the piston inwards.

a.) How does the volume of the air vary in the syringe? (1pt)

b.) Based on the particle theory of matter, explain using the diagrams, the behavior of the air confined
in the syringe, before and after the compression. (1.5pts)

c.) Which property of gases is verified by this experiment?(1pt)

Exercise5: (5points)
You are given the following list of volumes: 0.45 m3, 375 cm3, 75 Cl and 0.6dm3.

a. Express all the volumes in liters. (2pts)

b. Arrange the list in descending order. (0.5pt)
c. The masses of the 2 first volumes (0.45 m3, 375 cm3)are respectively 900g and 80dag.
i. Calculate the density of each volume. (1.5pts)
ii. Calculate the relative density of each one. (1pt)
Density of water = 1g/cm³
