7. Make color management (attachment 3:ICC Profile File Creation), ICC profile file
is used in different software:
(1)By means of soft proofing process function in PhotoShop, you can preview picture effect,
thus reducing the cost and time of proofing process. While performing color adjustment
in enabled function state, you can know adjustment effect in real-time and easily.
To ensure soft proofing process effect showed on the monitor is consistent with output effect,
the monitor must be calibrated and configured with Profile. This may be performed by i1.
Process (omitted)
z Open Profile
Setup\Custom under
View menu in
In this dialog box, select Profile file (created in previous section) from “Profile” list;
Select Perceptual from “Intent” list. Usually, Perceptual is suitable for photo image and
Absolute Colorimetric for sign and mark etc.
In “Simulate”, select “Paper White” check box; after confirmed, stay in soft proofing process
state, as shown in figure below:
In the case of ImgSend, see printing task management program “ImgSend” for color space
conversion. In the case of Photoshop, color space conversion is as follows:
After adjusted and before output, color space is converted to change the color into the color
space in this printing system. By means of this color conversion engine, color consistency
can be guaranteed while converted among platforms or equipment, and the color be
reverted to original color.
After confirmed, perform color conversion; after converted, save as another name and output
it.
Firstly, add the ICC file, setting as shown in fig, it can be seen the file name in step 4,
set the imort color profile(ICP) and working color profile
(WCP) as “SRBG IEC61966-2.1”; set Export color profile(ECP) as the file used.
Click “close”and “save”, and can send image.
8. print the test picture and check if there has any movement of the laser, and adjust
it if necessary.
9. compare with the test image of the Color Uniformity match
10. Print test pictures to check for any digital bar or strip and any scratch.
11. Print transitional pictures to check them for compliance with standard (compare with the
samples included).
12. Adjust monitor’s display color: For the equipment’s output photo color is different
with monitor’s display color. In order to make the color uniform, please adjust printing
equipment output color and make the ICC, and adjust the monitor’s display color.
There are so many methods to adjust the monitor. Now we take the example of Gama
and make a simple declaration.
(1) Find the Adobe Gama program and open it. Usually the program has been installed in the
operating system. Start---Control Panel---Adobe Gama. Please download the program if it
has not been installed in the system.
(2) Run the program and adjust the display color following the prompts. Print the standard
chart from the exposure machine. And open the chart on the computer which with the
monitor you want to adjust. Run the Gama program and adjust the color following the
prompts. Please refer to pictures as follows:
(3) Please save the file after adjusting. Please click “OK” after adjusting and name and save
the file. The file is the monitor’s ICC file.
Operating environment: Single color density measure software should be run with
“LIB folder, Mfc42d.dll, MFCN42D.DLL,MSVCRTD.DLL, Mfco42d.dll”, Chained files
will be saved in the operating folder. As shown:
Please click , take eye-one to measure the color lump. The windows
will show density of the color.
If you want to measure the max density of paper and developer, Please make paper
exposed in nature light and process a black paper. Measure the density of black
paper with eye-one. The paper will up to standard if the density data higher than 2.0.
Considering the paper manufactories have different specifications, It is normal that if
you density data higher than 2.0.
Changing printing conditions such as chemical agent, paper and etc may cause unstable color;
therefore color must be corrected on a daily basis. Furthermore, when color changes
significantly, for example laser power changes, color correction can assure color consistency.
When color changes substantially, a new Profile should be created if different paper or
chemical agent is used.
Usually, it is recommended to create a Profile per week (or longer). Due to aging
phosphorescent powder, display should be calibrated per week or longer (when no major
change); however, this is performed at user’s discretion.
¾ Screen correction
To realize WYSWYG, screen correction must be performed firstly and a Profile file be
created for the screen. However, this file is set as the system’s defaulted display color
management file. On the other hand, a Profile file must be created for output equipment. See
next section - “Profile File Creation” for Profile creation.
Screen correction may be realized via Eye-one. Firstly, adjust the screen’s optimal working
performance via screen correction function of ProfileMaker, then create Profile file.
Select “Monitor” attribute page, select monitor type - CRT/LCD from Reference, and select
“eye-one” from Sample; and then calibrate monitor. After measured, save the data. Click
“Start” under “Calculate Profile” to create Profile file.
Match software developed by GretagMacbeth Company is available for screen correction.
(multi-color) or i1 RGB 1.5.tif; open them via Photoshop (don’t change color) and
change resolution as 300dpi. After performing “save as”, send it to printing server to
print it out, finally cut it. Note: because this output system adopts RGB color space,
Profile file is created for RGB color space and test image is selected for RGB color
space (RGB is included in file name). In addition, when output file – ImgSend is
used, color management function must be closed.
3. Run ProfileMaker to measure the density of test image, as shown in figure below.
Main screen running this software is as shown in figure below. Operation procedure
is as follows:
z Select “Printer”
attribute page from
main screen.
z Select test strip
(printed in previous
step) from
“Reference” list, for
example TC9.18
RGB A3 i1.tif.
z Select “eye-one”
from “Sample” list.
At this moment, a
dialog box will
appear and prompt to
position the device
on whiteboard. Click
“OK” (densimeter
calibration), as
shown in figure
below:
4.
To create Profile file, some parameters should
be configured as follows:
z “Profile Size” includes “Default” and
“Large”;
z For “Perceptual Rendering”, select default
“Preserve Gray Axis” to keep gray axis;
z For “Gamut Mapping”, select default;
z “Viewing Light Source” means a light source
to be used for viewing image. Under daylight
and normal condition, select D50 option. To
view pictures under current light source (for
example fluorescent lamp), use i1’s a
measuring site light function to get site light
parameters and enter them into this software
(see i1 Reference for operation procedure).
z For “Calculate Profile”, click “Start…” to create Profile; default save path (Win9x or
Me system: X:\Windows\SYSTEM\ COLOR; Win2k system:
X:\WINNT\system32\spool\drives\color). After confirmed, running state is as
follows:
z After finishing, create an ICC Profile under Color directory, which is able to be used
for color management (such as color change and soft proofing process) via
PhotoShop.
