Dover GOP to form new Dover Republican Committee

Dover GOP faithful will hold a caucus to form a new Dover Republican Committee. Guest speakers to
include Ovide Lamontagne, Jack Kimball and Sen. Jeb Bradley.

Dover, NH, January 2, 2011 – What was once a write-off for Republicans, the City of Dover, is
quickly becoming a political battleground and destination for conservative candidates. In 2010,
Dover contributed to turning Strafford County red, by electing Representatives Mike Weeden
and Don Andolina to the State House. Now, Dover Republicans are organizing to form a Dover
Republican Committee, which will carry forward the gains made in this traditionally Democratic
territory.

In 2010, Executive Councilor Chris Sununu and State Senate Candidate Peter Angerhofer
opened up a local Republican Headquarters in Dover for their Seacoast operations. The
Chestnut Street Office, which had previously been used for Democratic Presidential Campaigns,
for the first time in recent memory was a Republican home base. Several prominent candidates
came to the ribbon cutting ceremony, including Jack Kimball, Frank Guinta and John Stephen.
Senator Kelly Ayotte campaigned at Duston’s Bakery in the final few weeks before beating
Congressman Hodes. And Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota, whom many suspect will run for
President, was a special guest speaker at the Strafford County GOP picnic.

While several Dover candidates were not elected this past cycle, it was an especially good year
for GOP recruitment, thanks in large part to the energy of Phyllis Woods, a Dover resident and
Republican National Committeewoman, who ensured that quality candidates were on the
general election ballot in all of Dover’s 6 wards.

On Tuesday, Jan. 25th, hoping to capture some of the momentum of 2010, Dover Republicans
will hold a caucus to form a new Dover Republican Committee. Special guest speakers will
include Ovide Lamontagne, former candidate for U.S. Senate, who visited Dover and Rochester
often in 2010, Jack Kimball, a Dover resident, former gubernatorial candidate, and now
candidate for State GOP Chair, and State Senator Jeb Bradley, who came to Dover to support
Catherine Cheney’s successful campaign for Strafford County Commissioner. Members of the
State Republican Committee will also be present.

The event will be held at one of Dover’s finest establishments, the Orchard Street Chop Shop’s
Top of the Chop (One Orchard St.), from 5:30 pm to approximately 7:00 pm. Dover
Republicans will vote on bylaws and officers. There is no charge for the event, however a $10
donation is suggested. There will be a cash bar, and light hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Registered Republicans living in Dover are eligible to vote on bylaws and officers. Republican
guests from other towns are invited to observe and hear the great lineup of speakers.
