Hands-on

1. Retrieve the file “Salaries 100 employees.csv”

2. Save the file using the format: “Section – Surname, First name (MoL-lab).xlsx” e.g. 2M9 –
Carrasco_Russell (MoL-lab).xlsx
3. In cell M2 type “Mean:” and compute the Mean. Place your formula in cell N2 (Use TotalPay)
4. In cell M3 type “Median:” and calculate the Median. Place your formula in cell N3 ( Use
TotalPay)
5. In cell M4 type “Mode:” and compute the Mode. Place your formula in cell N4 and use TotalPay
(Note: Use multimodal just to be sure and place your answer in cell N5 etc. Don’t forget to
remove the N/A)

Concepts

1. In Business, when is it practical to use Mean as compared to Median, and vice versa? Give
examples.
2. In Business, when is it practical to use Mode? Give an example.
