The ecological foot print measures human demand the equality of nature it takes to support
people or an economy .the ecological foot print is a measure of human impact on Earth’s
ecosystem and reveals the dependence of the human economy or natural capital .

My ecological foot print is 2.08 global hectors end if everyone lived like me will need 1.2
planets to support global consumption . my carbon foot print is 3.04 tones CO2 (estimated).

Part A

To live a sustainable life we must limit the great majority units in our country to two
children each . china introduced this program in the 1970s to one child but lifted it again to
two children in 2013 ,if South Africa could introduce the same program we would become
sustainable this would also decrease unemployment rate in South Africa in the future .

1.Do I really practice these values ? yes I do practice this values .

2.Can I really claim that these are my virtues? Yes they are my virtues is I believe in saving the
environment .

3. is what I am saying really what I do ? I do value human kind and nature it is what keeps us
alive at the end of the day .

On assignment 6 I do not condone (option E) animals being killed or used for medicinal purposes .
Animals form part of our ecosystem with them becoming extinct that would mean that the
human population is also at risk .Our environment will become unsustainable . Sustainability can
bring favorable climate change ,pollution and other environmental factors that can harm and do
harm to people’s health can be reduced .

Part C

All about the outcome -Consequentialism

Utilitarianism can be described as an action that tends to promote happiness not just for the
performer of the action but for every one affected by it .As people we tend to be ignorant on
things that we think don’t affect us, child poverty and poverty over all leads to higher crime
rate and health issues sustainability can end hunger and poverty in south Africa it can also
better the standard of education and healthcare. This includes health of the land , air and
water .By recycling materials and discouraging food waste this can be met .

Fair is fair -distributive justice

On this topic we speak about equality , equal opportunities and the difference in principals .some
people might think that this doesn’t affect them and that might be because they well off that
they don’t have to think about future or our Environment . Option E :according to me what is
fair for our children and is their human right is to have better standards of education and health
care to live in a world were poverty and hunger is a myth . its our children’s right to benefit
from the available natural resources , if everything is consumed there will be nothing for them
to fall back on .

Greenies- environmental Ethics

Sustainability also looks at the environment ,the land which is used by human kind to plant
and live in by our animals to graze in the air we breathe and the water we drink .most of our the
people now are going green by recycling that can decrease pollution on land and at sea ,we have
seen a lot of documentaries which emphasizes on how the human race is harming the planet by
polluting the Water and the land we have also seen how rhino pouching is affecting our nature
reserves but most of all our economic status . we as the human race need to find way to sustain
our natural resources its not easy but can be done . We can start by growing our own
vegetables ,generate heating by using natural light or solar panels and use natural heat to
generate water as well its our responsibility and our ethical right to look after the environment .
