Dear Santiago
My first weeks at England were very difficult, I didn’t know the culture and the rules of this society. Before left Colombia, people
warned me about the cultural shock I might suffer and actually is much more than just the food.
I felt strange in this country because people is not that funny o nice as Colombian people, they´re kind but pretty reserved about their
lifes.
One of the different thing of England is the behavior of people on the underground. They allow other to get out first before they come
in. Another thing is the sensitive that are this people, to them relationship are pretty strong and important and you can´t do a lot of
jokes or say something joking very usual because they take pretty serious anything you say, continuous with that they are very bad
expressing their feeling and emotions and you have to push them to tell you what´s wrong, it’s so frustrating, in Colombia we are so
used to express what we feel.
The food is tasteless, there is no much color on it, and they don’t have a lot food dishes of their country, they prefer try food from
other cultures, like Chinese food, or Indian like curry
They also don’t have any coordination in their bodies, they dance just like a tree, to them Latin people are a professional dancer, I´ve
tried to teach a few of them how to dance but I was useless.
There are a lot of cultures and urban groups, and all of them live together in a place where different are seen as an advantage, most
of people in England have tattoos, they like them and some groups like “city boys” and “the biker” have a lot of them
So this has been my experience until now, here in England, I really miss Colombia and I like to come back, but by now I have to stay
here and try to explore and know more about this country and its culture,
Love, Wendy
