Career 1: Child, Family, and School Social Worker 


Career Exploration Research Questions:
● What education is needed for this career?
○ To become a Child, Family, and School Social Worker you need a bachelor's
degree in psychology, sociology, or social work. Although, clinical positions
require a master’s degree in social work, and usually social workers must be
licensed by their state. It is important to start taking classes related to psychology
in high school to know the background of the major. Lastly, they typically also
need hours in getting practical experience in family service agencies or other
settings that serve youth.
● What training is needed for this career?
○ In order to succeed in this career, you must have knowledge skills and abilities.
These include being good at communicating with people, such as having
experience in customer service or therapy and counseling. Going along with
communicating well with people, it would be a good idea to study psychology or
sociology. As for skills, you must be good at listening to others without
interrupting, while also being able to talk to them and ask good questions. Being
good at problem-solving comes in handy because many kids like to explore and
get themselves messy, or break something. You must think of a way to make the
child happy along with fixing the problem. For this job, you must love people and
have a good understanding of their actions and understand how to deal with the
issues and help the person in need. Overall, you need to be able to listen,
communicate, and fix issues.

residential care facilities, or adoption agencies. People who tend to work in an
office or school typically stay there and stay stationary. While people who work

○ Most of the workers in the social worker field are female. Many male students
who start studying this field drop out and move to different fields. The traditional
role of the profession has entailed working with disadvantaged families, often
headed by lone parents, mostly women. Also, studies say that men’s suitability for
social work is questioned for reasons ranging from emotional capacity to working
with vulnerable children. Lastly, it has a lower salary range than some comparable
occupations.

○ This career field is very common and flexible. People are able to work in any
state for a company. Some people tend to work from home but more commonly,
people work in an office with a small group of people. Jobs of a business analyst
vary so while some work alone, others work in groups to express and gather their
ideas. Some people like to work alone while others like to gather the opinions and
thoughts of others. Overall, the job is very flexible as to where one can work.

○ According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, business analysts earn a starting
salary of $83,610 yearly.

○ Making an estimated amount of $85,000 a year, the average ten-year salary for
this career is $850,000.

○ In the United States, the best states to live in if you want to be a business analyst
