Learning Diary 13

1. What have I done and who have I met?

● Johan lindelöf at Media Tyk to discuss materials for printing the card game.
● Met Aliz in Copenhagen to discuss design opportunities together for the game and
packaging.
● Met with Smålands Nation Committee to discuss an event where we get to shamelessly
promote our game.
● My boyfriend took me to Göteborg and we toured through the city hall with Feminist
candidates.
● Met with the class, Lottie and Pelle to practice for Dragons.

2. Why did I do what I do?

My team can't design a proper game with the cognitive framework our team has, so Lilla
contacted an old colleague who lives in Copenhagen. Aliz is a designer who has an impressive
experience with printing companies and design. She is giving us a wonderful deal.

I went to Media Tryk because my cousin recommended that I go there to see her friend,
Richard. She mentioned how they have a lot of printing options if you know what you're looking
for. Thankfully, they are focused on small orders, had plenty of samples, advice on game card
materials, and simple packaging.

Småland had a free event date available, so my friends and I decided to organize a club night
about music. This would be a great chance to build a community for Flow and have fun while
doing so!

My boyfriend is so impressive. He is a candidate for the feminist party at the age of 26 and is
really standing for No Poverty in Sweden. He invited me to Göteborg to meet his campaign team
and some other candidates while he tours the city hall of Göteborg and speaks to young
feminists from all over the EU.

We have dragons coming up soon, which means it's time to practice our pitches. It was a great
chance for me to get feedback from colleagues and leaders in idéon science park community.

3. Observations and reflections in regard to point 1 and 2?

I am so happy with meeting Aliz. She is very driven and cooperative. She says she's excited about
working with us and that we may be easier than most clients to work with. She has a very
creative eye and she is excited about my sketches and ideas for the game. This is really going to
make it easier for our cards to get finished and being able to begin printing them!

Johan is amazing. It is so crazy how connections and speaking Swedish can get you farther and
faster in your entrepreneurial journey in Sweden. My cousin had the connection with the
founder of the company and at first he mentioned he was really busy. But the second I said I was
Miryam Bäckströms cousin, he led me to the floor manager of the company, Johan. Johan then
took me all through their floors to provide me with guidance, material samples, answers to our
questions, and touring through the process of making our cards. It was so empowering how
welcoming he was and he reassured us that we have a great partner if we work with them.

Småland is really going to be able to help us with putting together a fun event! I have been
wanting to put together a fun party in one of the Nation clubs and it's incredible to think I will be
in a historic club of Lund gets me so excited! This will be great to promote our game and build
our social media community!

I am so lucky to have met Joakim during my studies. I have been wanting someone special for so
long and it's shocking that it happened within my first year in Sweden. I can't wait to get to
know him better and go on some adventures. He's really supportive in my game and studies.

I am so excited for Dragons! It meant so much to hear from my friends and leaders how well I
am at pitching. I have been practicing a lot and been really wanting to be the best pitcher, so it is
very humbling to get critique that is positive and constructive about my progress.

4. Reflections in regard to entrepreneurial theory, linking it with point 3?

Bootstrapping has been an awesome tool for us. Andrea, Lilla and I have truly contributed to
each other's networks so much. We have been able to get so far in our development by paying
for nothing, however, it's getting hard now that the stipendium needs to be approved before we
get to pay for any of our printing or designing.

The Swedish trust system is very interesting. I've noticed how some people see it as unfair and
even suggest prejudice, but I'm starting to understand why swedes are so protective over their
resources. Swedes have a specific work culture and trust system outside the economic systems,
so it's not surprising how it is simply implemented in business cultures for security reasons.

The exploration process for startups is a lot of work but so much fun! With the abilities to be
flexible and taking on different opportunities as they come with time, it has been quite the
surprising journey. We have been creating our game in quite unconventional ways, but also
been learning to research some ways our competitors got started and are currently succeeding
in the industry of workshops and games.

5. What are my goals for next week?
