The history of organic farming began in the early 20th century. Sir Albert Howard is regarded as the father of modern organic agriculture for his book on organic farming principles. Rudolf Steiner coined the term "biodynamic" and developed biodynamic agriculture. In the 1960s, Rachel Carson's book "Silent Spring" brought awareness about environmental pollution and the impacts of pesticides.
