How is Duterte Handling the CoViD-19 in the Philippines?

Introduction
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a new virus. The
disease causes respiratory illness (like the flu) with symptoms such as a cough, fever,
and in more severe cases, difficulty breathing. You can protect yourself by washing
your hands frequently, avoiding touching your face, and avoiding close contact (1
meter or 3 feet) with people who are unwell (WHO, 2020).
As of today, March 23, 2020, there are 351,067 Corona Virus cases all around the
world with 15,333 deaths and 100,569 recoveries. The Philippines is not an exception
to this pandemic, furthermore, there are already 462 cases as of now with 33 deaths
and 18 number of recoveries (Worldometer, 2020).
This kind of pandemic could be treated with the active participation of the citizens,
the private sector and lastly, the government. As of today, it is greatly seen how
incompetent the government on handling such crisis like the CoVid-19 as it follows:
How did the government reacted to CoVid-19:
1. Okay, so looking back. Nag start yung Co-ViD-19 way back January pa, if we had
competent government, they could have handled it better and we would not be
experiencing shortage of testing kits and more accurate implementation of “enhanced
community quarantine”.
Okay, This is my first reason. Again, way back January when the CoVid-19 shocked the
world, the Philippines may already banned the passengers from China para ma lessen ang
risk of Local Transmission and Transmission itself ng CoVid which originated in China BUT
the president was refusing calls to ban travel to and from China, claiming it was unfair to
the good old Asian country. But, as many suspect, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte may
have meant “unfair to Xi Jinping.” Until this day, where cases in the country have risen, and
the virus has killed five people as of writing, the government maintains a soft spot for China
despite finally having imposed a travel ban. Well in fact, It’s not racism. It’s a precaution.

(Japan News Today, 2020)

Okay ikaw na mangjudge if this was racism; when in fact, there are other countries who
banned flights from China that time grrr. So, did they practice racism too? Lastly diba nung
pumutok yung issue about covid-19 there are tons of Chinese who have been reported going
here in the Philippines? It’s not impossible they brought the virus.
2. Okay next, Manila in Lockdown
In his speech, apart from the colorful language, the president announced a month-long
“community quarantine” for Metro Manila. Land, domestic, and air travel were canceled in
the National Capital Region starting March 15 to April 14. Mass gatherings were also
banned.
Also, instead of health workers and treatment facilities, he said the military and police
forces would be deployed for “peace and order.”
But let’s not get stuck with terms. What’s clear is this: the president loves his military, and he
will declare national emergencies for the sake of deploying his troops. It makes one think
he’ll declare Martial Law anytime soon, without saying that exact phrase.
There’s no clear plan of action, unlike what’s seen from other countries that have cases
of infection.
Instead, the president took the time and said Chinese President Xi Jinping was ready to
help and “all we have to do is ask.” He added that if things deteriorate, he may have to
call China for help: “So to the Chinese government, the people, especially to President
Xi Jinping, thank you for the consoling words and maybe I hope it would not reach that
point, but maybe we will need your help. Thank you.”
China is where the virus originated, but that’s not even the issue. The issue is China’s
government has received criticisms both locally and internationally for the lack of
transparency and playing down the outbreak, resulting in delayed critical responses from
health officials.
Okay so ayon na nga, PRDD implemented the “community lock down” for the whole
Metro Manila. What are its major holes?
 First, hindi siya pinag isipan ng Mabuti. How did I say so? As you’ve noticed, magulo
yung pagsasasabi ng ibang branches of the government. Like sa mga presscons, pabago
bago, walang maintidihan mga Pilipino. Saan ba sila aasa? Syempre sa gobyerno,
binabayaran nila yun eh.
 Second, Also, instead of health workers and treatment facilities, he said the military
and police forces would be deployed for “peace and order.” It’s not about the doctors
seen in the checkpoints but yung pag’prprioritize sa mga health workers. Duh.
Makikiapag barilan ba yung militar sa virus? Wala man lang nakitang alcohol or sanitizer
sa mga checkpoints.
 LAST PERO PINAKA NAKAKIRITA. NAGTHANK YOU SIYA SA PRESIDENTE
NG CHINA. Okay not to make a general conclusion but??????? Duh wth. Ikaw na
mangjudge naiirita ko sakanya

3. FAKE NEWS NI PANELO #eatbananas

Okay tawang tawa ko dito. So si Panelo, is presidential spokesperson therefore he
should be stating facts. Well, he just stated na pag kumain ng banana and gargling of
salt, maliligtas tau sa virus. Eto yung whole statement niya:

“I saw this on the internet: bananas can fight [the virus], and I eat bananas every day.
Number two, I have made it a habit to gargle with salt water. When I have a little
cold, I gargle.” (Coconut News, 2020)

BUT THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SAID:

“Wala pa pong ebidensiya. Wala pang masusing pag-aaral na makapagbibigay ng

hard science or ebidensiya para sabihin na talagang bananas will prevent the
transmission or prevent a person from having COVID-19,” Health Assistant Secretary
Maria Rosario Vergeire said during the Laging Handa briefing of the Presidential
Communications Operations Office (PCOO). (ABS-CBN, 2020)

Okay this might be funny pero kasi, if in this kind of small facts, the government are
already spreading fake news tapos from unreliable sources pa galing, how would the
people would stil believe in the government di’ba? It might be hard, pero kasi there
are no rooms for mistake in times like this lalo na presidential spokesperson siya.

4. THE IMPLEMENTATIONS ARE ANTI-POOR

Saan dadalhin ang mga nahuli? Ikukulong ba?
WHICH THE LATTER IS VERY IN CONTRARY WITH “SOCIAL
DISTANCING”

KAILAN KA NAKAKITA NG GOBYERNONG NAG PAPASALAMAT SA

NAGING PASAKIT SA BAYAN NIYA? #OnlyInThePhilippines

So pano yung mga jeepney driver, bus driver and tricyle driver? ANong kikitain nila?

In the midst of the ban of mass transportation, there are lots of Filipinos na walang
private vehicle. So pano yun? Kagaya ni lola wala siya masakyan? Anona, Duterte.
Okay, Community Quarantine. Pano yung kinikita lang nila sa trabaho nila is pang
araw-araw lang nilang pangkain? Gurl. Di sila mamatay sa virus, mamatay sila sa
virus.

5. In the midst of the shortage of testing kits, these government officials were “vip”.
They are Duterte family, Bong Go, Tito Sotto, Grace Poe, Pia Cayetano, Imee Marcos,
Bong Revilla, Ping Lacson, Dick Gordon, Nancy Binay, Sherwin Gatchalian, Migz
Zubiri, Francisco Duque
Only Kiko Pangilinan & Risa Hontiveros denied to take the testing kits.
Okay bakit to nakakagalit. The fact that these officials told us not to panic on the first
place tapos sila yung may gana na mag pa vip on these testing kits.
Wala siyang sign of
symptoms eh dapat pag wala kang sintomas, walang testing kits. Diba nakakairita.
Imagine those doctors & frontliners who died from the virus have no chance to take the
Lastly, like your ate, they are most
virus tapos di sila ma’test or what.
masabi.
